Both cup finals on at the same time on Saturday. Doesn`t seem like the wisest planning for TV viewers.

There were complaints last year when the Scottish Cup final was moved to after the FA cup final.
The feeling was that it diminished the value of the Scottish Cup.
I agree, complain the the English FA and get them to move the time of their Cup final if you are so upset.

The SFA probably reckoned with it being an OF final the bulk of the TV audience up here would give priority to the Scottish game even if the kick-offs clashed. I wonder what they would have decided if either of the OF was not involved?

As far as I can remember, the Scottish Cup final has always been 3pm on the Saturday, regardless of who was playing in it. I’m pretty sure it would be 3pm on Saturday, even if it was Motherwell v Hibs.
Edit - just checked and it was apparently moved last year, but that seems to be the only time it’s been moved.

Was always Sat. 3pm - even in the daft days when the League fixtures were scheduled to end same day and time - with the dramas that resulted on a few occasions such as 1965 and 1968.

I think you`re right, vee. In recent years I think it`s the English final that`s changed from the traditional 3 pm kick off.

is it being suggested we be somehow subservient and change our showpiece events because another country are playing games at the same time!?!?
If anyone is desperate to watch both then you could a) record one or b) watch one on second screen or laptop/tablet

Somebody correct me if wrong - but I mind both the FA and SFA cup finals being on the same Saturday with a 3pm kick since the dawn of time until much more recently.

The Scottish Cup Final was in April the last time we won it in 1968. West Brom won the FA Cup 3 weeks later.
From 1971 until the 90’s it was generally the same day as the FA Cup Final I think.

I know that Man City are playing in the English Cup final. However who are there opponents. As for the Scottish game it`s two teams from Glasgow.

Cup finals should be a 3pm Saturday kick off. It’s not and shouldn’t be for the tv audience convenience. If you need to watch them both then you make it work
