 SPFL Trust Trophy 2024/25

SPFL Trust Trophy returns to an all Scottish affair with improved prize money. Frustrating to still see B teams involved and interesting that the Lowland League teams are made up predominantly of the former SPFL teams as opposed to being based on league position…

Actually some fairly decent money involved in it this year, a decent run to the semis or final for one of the smaller teams could be a real boost to the coffers. For me, it`ll always be a diddy cup, but maybe it is time we took it a bit more seriously. Our record in cup competitions has been awful for sometime now, so maybe success in this is something that could be the springboard for further success for the club

Agreed. I would have much preferred to see the likes of Tranent and Linlithgow given priority over clubs lower down the Lowland League - sporting integrity, reward for achievement etc. I just don`t like the concept of any tournament becoming an invitation event, at any level.

Cumbernauld Colts have come out with a piece voicing their disapproval and it’s hard to disagree with it, inviting other teams where there is financial reward based on no sporting merit is clearly wrong.

Maybe there`s some `relegated from league 2 but will be invited to league cup for x years` arrangement?
Doesn`t really make sense otherwise.
