There was certainly some suicidal passing around our penalty box. It wasn`t all Mehmet`s fault though.

Playing out from the back when you are Man City? Fine. Playing out from the back when the goalkeeper and majority of the central defenders aren`t great with the ball at their feet? Lunacy.

I`m guessing they will be skewed in our favour somewhat but at least there were some chances created. Sadly we seem to have kept up the barn door/back end of a cow with a banjo routine from last year. Think Ritchie-Hosler is wasted in that system.

I`m as twitchy as every other fan when I see us trying to play out from the back sometimes but it`s a bit of a damning indictment that we are watching professional footballers who aren`t `great with the ball at their feet`! What I don`t get is the slavish adherence to it so the opposition immediately knows to press. Surely it should be used selectively when the situation allows?

I wasn`t at the game but the highlights show a very different picture from what I was expecting from the comments yesterday. We were a bit rusty at the back but it was by no means the great disaster that was being described. We were well in the game and if we can sharpen up a bit in front of goal, we may well win games like this.
