I`ve always had a soft spot for St Johnstone. When I lived in Perth, Geoff Brown was my bank manager, and he was a decent bloke.

I am a little bit shocked to see they are talking about selling McDiarmid Park and its surrounding areas. It can`t have been much more than 30 years since it was built, but I do see the logic of selling it off, given its attractive location. There`s plenty of farmland on the west or south side of Perth that would fit the bill for a new stadium.

If the Saints` ground is sold, I wonder if it will revive calls for the sale of EEP.

"The 22 acres that the stadium, a big car park, an all-weather pitch and a training ground sit on is worth a lot more than the fee Webb will be about to pay for his 75% share in the club."

Seems he can`t lose!

I`ve always disliked St Johnstone. It all stems from being a teenager in the army cadets. I ended up sharing a tent with 2 of their fans and they were a couple of willies.

I can`t see the story but if the new owner is going to make a profit from selling the stadium and land then what benefit is there to current stakeholders? Sounds a bit suspect to me. McDermid Park is already an edge of town facility with training pitches around it. Where are they planning on moving to?
