Have you edited that? Michael Wood has tweeted the same but mentions injury hit spells at Cork City and Admira Wacker

Another youngster to provide no 1st team competition. Sign an experienced keeper FFS that’s at least played some amount of senior games

We signed Stolaryck with no first team experience and he was really good. This guy could be similar quality.

He’s played about as many first team games as Kevin Dąbrowski did before becoming the Raith No1.

Was quality on my last FM save. Held down the England Number 1 slot for a good decade or so.

Based on that, I think this is a quality signing.

The Raith keeper played way more first team games than this lad has. Anyway, we already have an experienced goalkeeper who’s probably on a decent wage. If money is tight, signing another experienced one and having one of them warming the bench most weeks is daft

He really didn’t. KD 42 games and TO 24. According to Wikipedia.

KD also 5/6 years older.

You’ve obviously made up your mind he’s useless before he’s even signed.

Toby will be keen to move as he finds himself surplus to requirements at Celtic, dropping down to 4th choice goalkeeper.

I`ve never seen him play, so will reserve judgement. I hope he can do us a turn?

Heard he’s was a highly rated goalkeeper a year or so ago. Based on the lack of transfer activity and the state we seem to be in, I think this could be a decent signing (probably the best we’d hope for in terms of a keeper). I’d have him straight in the team for Saturday if he signs. He’s at least had first team football elsewhere - playing the final two months of the season in the Austrian second division, which is probably a step up from the Scottish Championship.

Must have a good relationship with Celtic / McPake is pals with Darren O`Dea as that`s Otoo, Summers, Moffat (albeit indirectly) and now the GK in the last couple of years came from Celtic development squad

Crikey, don`t say that, or Berkey will now be saying McPake won`t sign anyone that`s not from Dundee, or from St Johnstone on Mackay`s recommendation, or from his old buddy O`Dea

couple of others there too that could slot in to areas of need.

Courier says clubs are in talks but also...

There’s one away on pre-season as well, which causes a problem in itself, because he won’t be back for another week to ten days. That rules that one out at the minute, but hopefully by the Livingston game we’ve got someone in."

Sharp or Legzdins at Dundee?
Oluwayemi at Celtic?

Sharp wasn`t that good. At least Oluwayemi is at the right age to improve, and has a good pedigree, being involved in the England international age groups up until under 20 level.

I did see someone asking why GK Coach Collier wasn`t at least registered and sitting on the bench, which was a fair point, with him just being 31. I noticed this on his LinkedIn page-
"Having played professional football up until 3 years ago where unfortunately I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, I stopped playing and I took this opportunity to develop my coaching skills.", not sure when he wrote that as I don`t see that he played professionally, other than 2 games for East Fife over a decade ago, perhaps in the Non-League pyramid somewhere. UEFA B Licence holder though, so must have put the hours in

Something about him and can’t be as error prone as mehmet.

Deals done through o’dea have been infinitely more successful than any of dodgy Dave’s old st Johnstone mates anyway.

Maybe we should ditch the experienced signing policy and just buy Celtic youth players, can’t be any worse but at least they ain’t always injured or past it.

Summers for me was good when we pointed him in the direction of the opposing goal. When asked to do the defensive work and when facing his own goals, he was not as good. Whether or not he was asked to play this way, it made him out to be unable to chase a game or do the dirty work.
It would be interesting to see him play in an attack minded team.as our style of football at the moment maybe didn’t help him.

Back to Oluwayemi, I can`t see any clear information online saying what his current contract situation is. What I can find says his contract expired in June. So he`d need to agree a new deal with Celtic (maybe already has) before being loaned out. Maybe he`ll want to leave Celtic and move back down south.

Would be interesting to hear generally how his loan at Admiral Wacker went. The stat that he kept 5 clean sheets in 9 games sounds positive.

Transfermarkt says his contract runs out in summer 2025 and he went abroad with Celtic on their recent preseason tour in the US so it would be a loan deal

He’s not played the last 3 games for them and the last game he played he kept a clean sheet in a 4-0 win. Made some good saves against us in the challenge cup a few years back. I’m guessing he’s not played the last few games due to the speculation and dealing with the loan.

The season started 3 weeks ago. The club should have recruited to have a go at the league cup. We got the most favourable draw of all 2nd seeds and had a great chance of progression. But it feels like we didn’t take it seriously, looking at the lack of transfer activity and the threadbare squad we’ve had.

There is decent money to be made from the league cup - particularly with the second round being seeded. The club can’t plead poverty/blame finances for a lack of activity, when they aren’t providing funds to make the first team competitive. We should have had another keeper sorted before any competitive games, as a bare minimum.

McPake said that the kids, other than Sutherland and Tod, weren’t ready to come on away to Spartans until we had the security of a 2 goal lead. So they’re not ready for first team football and should not count as first team players.

I don`t think we didn`t take it seriously I just don`t think we are good enough. We had the easiest draw out of the second seeds and got well beaten at home against a side who finished 7th in league 2. Absolute disgrace and there are folk on here saying there is an overreaction. We are worse than we were last season. We were lucky that Inverness and Arbroath were in the league and were worse than us or we would have been in even more trouble.

I`m pretty sure no one is trying to dress up our League Cup campaign as anything other than a total disaster, Cammy, but some posters already have us relegated before a Championship ball is kicked and before the transfer window closes. While a relegation scrap is not out of the question, it`s a bit premature to throw the towel in now.

The big question is - if we don’t have a keeper in by Saturday, is it an absolute disgrace?

Posting again to add, the season starts in 2 days and we still don`t have a second keeper. Going into that game without one.... anybody to play there if called upon...would be a complete failure. Hopefully something is announced today.

Spot on

I don`t think we didn`t take it seriously I just don`t think we are good enough. We had the easiest draw out of the second seeds and got well beaten at home against a side who finished 7th in league 2. Absolute disgrace and there are folk on here saying there is an overreaction. We are worse than we were last season. We were lucky that Inverness and Arbroath were in the league and were worse than us or we would have been in even more trouble.

It’s frustrating when you say something and it’s totally interpreted in the wrong way, the overreaction is for those that have signed us up to League One already and we’ve played zero games in the league.

What a state to get into in July. The goalkeeper situation can’t be argued with, but we don’t know details.
At least based on all the disaster of a season I’ll take 8th place now and it’s a been a good one.

I wouldn,t say its an overreaction , probably more a fear based on our dismal form in friendlies and a disastrous cup competion , not sure if now the league has started we are all off a sudden going to morph into a good team, i will be at Livingston on Saturday hoping for a good start and a confidence boosting 3 points
With or without a 2nd goalkeeper. COYP

Wow, happy with 8th place?? If we`re no improving every year on the previous season then in my book we`re going backwards!!! Surely you`ve got to get better with another year in the championship and aim to finish higher than previous season.
Hoping and praying for a decent performance on Saturday to get supporters back on side. Defo not expecting it but I`ll still be hoping!!
But please get a goalie on the bench ffs. Preferably Mehmet!

Even if we do sign a goalie now it`s still not very acceptable.

I`m desperate for some kind of result tomorrow because I think us as supporters could do with a lift but at the same time a win would paper the cracks and maybe make things look alright certainly in the owners eyes

Let`s hope we lose then. Yay.

I don't say this lightly. This is the lowest I've felt as a Pars fan since the admin times. It hardly seems worth it these days.

Our owners clearly don't care what the first team does. They're utterly obsessed with their "plan". They're alienating the lifeblood of OUR club. They're doing their best to totally p*** off the manager and his staff.

All while overseeing staggering financial losses.

What a shambles

I actually expect teams to rough house Mehmet at corners and free kicks injure him to gain some sort of advantage. Oh wait he flaps at everything so maybe not that much of an advantage. The situation is ridiculous, we are potentially sleepwalking in to a situation that happened to raith a few years ago when Ryan Stevenson played in goals for a few games.

There`s two distinct issues here. Having a back up goalkeeper is necessary for obvious reasons but it doesn`t automatically repair the dependability of our first choice keeper. It`s no secret Mehmet isn`t a long term solve for us so I can only give them the benefit of the doubt in hoping that they`re looking for a backup who can genuinely solve the long term problem vs. just sitting on the bench.

But that`s probably not what`s happening.

It`s not pleasant, but I honestly hope the fans absolute give pelters to the board if they bother to show up tomorrow. We have had 3 utterly grim summer windows under this board, this is easily the worst. Less players than last year, the same old faces that got us embarrassingly relegated (then given longer deals)

I`m just.... Disinterested now. Even our immediate Admin squad showed more fight and desire and they were teenagers

Cammypar, that may be the case for someone with a proven track record at a decent level but they will be in the minority.
There will be many others that time is running out for to get a full time deal so it can work both ways.

Pars set to land Oluwayemi from Celtic
Dunfermline Athletic are finally set to land Tobi Oluwayemi.

The Pars have been trailing the Celtic keeper for several weeks and they are now close to agreeing a loan deal to take him to East End Park.

The 21-year-old is keen to go out and get games and James McPake has targeted the youngster to battle it out with Deniz Mehmet.

Oluwayemi has had previous loans at Admira Wacker and Cork.

Played at every level for England from u15 to u20 so he must have something about him. Big Ange had him in some of his European match day squads at Celtic and he has a decent pedigree coming through the Spurs and Celtic academies.

Stolarczyk fell into the same category and he was decent.

You don’t tend to loan goalkeepers out just to warm the bench.

They have some good youngsters that have had a couple of seasons at Lowland League, that are now 20, and they might want to test them at a higher level. Guys like Matthew Anderson, left back who also spent time at Admira Wacker, or Bruno Davidson, a midfielder that can cover on the left and right. I think he was at Hutchie Vale when he was a kid, although I might be thinking of another Bruno. Who knows if they can step up though .... Certainly not me

The Courier confirm a deal is imminent. They say we have been chasing him all close season but, firstly, he went on Celtic`s pre-season tour of the States and then there was a chance he might be returning to Austria where he had been on loan previously. Maybe it wasn`t just a matter of money.

Not the money, but the terminology used when first approached
He didn`t want to be a `back up`
He wanted assurance of a fair assessment and to be played if he proved himself better than Mehmet

This has now been discussed at a greater length....

We`ve always been looking for a player that can challenge Mehmet, that`s been partly why it`s been difficult.

McPake in the press this week:

“From the very start,” he went on. “We could have went out and signed another goalkeeper pretty easily but it’s not a backup keeper we want.

“We want a goalkeeper that can come in and challenge Deniz, that is capable of playing in our team if Deniz gets injured.

“Likewise, if Deniz isn’t doing well in games for a prolonged period of time, they can come in and challenge him to be the new number one.

Dunfermline Athletic are delighted to welcome Tobi Oluwayemi to KDM Group East End Park on a season long loan from Scottish Premiership champions Celtic FC. Oluwayemi has already enjoyed loan spells at Cork City and Admira Wacker. The London born keeper, who is of Nigerian descent, made two appearances for the Irish side and nine for the Vienna side in the Austrian 2 Bundesliga club.

The 21 year old, who joined Celtic from Tottenham Hotspur in February 2019, has been capped for England at U16, U18, U19 and U20 levels. He has featured for Celtic B in 24 Lowland League and SPFL Trust Trophy ties and in 6 UEFA Youth League games. Tobi also received two call ups for Celtic’s Europa Conference League matches against Bodø/Glimt in the 2021-2022 season.

Manager James McPake added: “Tobi is a player that we’ve been looking at for a while, he’s had a couple of loan spells, playing mens football and is a very good goalkeeper. We’re now comfortable with the two senior goalkeepers we’ve got in the squad. With Deniz and Tobi they’ll be able to push each other on, make each other better and we’ve now got two goalkeepers that are desperate to play.”

Tobi will wear squad number 21.

We’re now comfortable with the two senior goalkeepers we’ve got in the squad. With Deniz and Tobi they’ll be able to push each other on, make each other better and we’ve now got two goalkeepers that are desperate to play.”

Tobi will wear squad number 21.

Sorry but who writes this garbage? 😂 that first paragraphs brilliant - “enjoyed loan spells” - played 2 games for one team and 9 in an injury ravaged season for the other…….it doesn’t sound very enjoyable or worthwhile 😂

Poor signing by the looks of things. No experience at all and if he’s able to displace Mehmet that really does show him up to be even poorer than we thought

Reading this cesspit it`s obvious why the owners have had enough.

Nothing is good enough for some of you.

I generally refrain from calling out posters (after all, everyone has and is entitled to express a personal view) but...JA74, that is a very poor comment to make about a player who I doubt you`ve ever seen play.

Hope you don’t mean me btw!

I have no idea on the lads ability and 100% hope he is a success and better than Mehmet’s current ability. I just find some reporting amusing

Typical nonsense from him though. Capped at four different levels from one of the top nations in the world but not good enough to give a chance to according to some random fud on the internet.

The London born keeper, who is of Nigerian descent, made a pitiful two appearances for the Irish side and and equally unimpressive nine for the Vienna side in the Austrian 2 Bundesliga club. He`ll probably be injured by next week.

Think this could be a decent signing for us and someone I would like to see get a chance over Mehmet sooner rather than later. Apparently he’s rated highly at Celtic. Would be nice to get some more in before Saturday but I’d imagine any additional business will be carried out on deadline day.

Fagan-Walcott had about three 1st team appearances before he absolutely strolled this league. He`s best ignored.

Aye, welcome to East End Park and the Pars, Tobi. You'll find the squad is a really great bunch of lads. No prima Donna`s, who all get on really well together. I hope you get the chance to showcase your talents at some point and make all these doubting Thomases eat their words.

Please be reassured that this forum is not representative of Pars fans in general.

Im glad to see we’ve signed him. He’s obviously still in line with the young up-and coming- player we’ve been signing. I hope he does great for us!

Still some folk need to gie their heid a wobble! Any new player in the squad deserves a fair shot.

Who were you expecting to sign? Please welcome Manual Neuer to the pars… aw ffs he’s to old!! 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Had a good youth career and looks like he has been unlucky with injuries when he’s gone out on loan.

One who could kick on with us when given the chance.

Would expect Mehmet to keep his place until he makes another mistake…

Imo I think he’s been told by Celtic this his is last chance on development to go to us or he is out? He doesn’t look that happy in his signing picture but surely he’s better than Mehmet?

Jonny Otto actually started at Celta not Celtic
But Atletico Madrid decided to send him on loan to Wolves and didn`t want him back

Is this where your confusion is ?????

Glad to see we have finally signed a goalie. I’m pretty sure he will be on the bench on Saturday.
Perhaps he will be pushing to start in a few weeks once he gets to know the players and their strengths, weaknesses and how they prefer to play ?
