Liam Hoggan joins Gala Fairydean on loan.
Topic Originator: Ahoy!Ahoy!
Date:   Wed 7 Aug 17:22

Given our current squad issues and the fact he’s been on the bench recently, I find it ridiculous he’s been allowed to leave on loan.

Our squad is so thin as we all know, so why are we allowing them to leave on loan while no one new is coming in.

I am assuming someone ( loan) will be coming in…

What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

Might be to give us a little more room in the wage budget for a new signing? Maybe we only of 500 a week of headroom, and our target wants 600 a week?

Loads of potential options.

Well if that’s possibly the case, it’d be nice to have someone in for the weekend. In all likeliness it’ll probably the keeper we were expecting last week.

Must be someone coming in, especially with Ngwenya picking up an injury and the potential of Comrie moving over to the left hand side.

Can barely name a bench as it is, so if we’re letting a player go there must be some coming in this week.

I’d suggest I’d shows the level of player in our squad that players from our bench end up non-league (EoS) and not even East Fife anymore, far more telling

That’s very harsh. Hes a young boy that needs to play games. It’s also the lowland league and not EoS.

Funny how two of our best players were signed from the same league, but that doesn’t suit your agenda.

Neither were signed from that league. They were part of a premier league club and set up, they happened to play games for no other reason than compliance. They’d have been in the championship if the league had allowed access.

He has been part of our squad and that shows the level we’ve dropped. Either through lack of senior players or poorer quality youth. Putting our best talent to the lowland league/EoS shows that they aren’t that good. Only yesterday Partick sent 2 players to Clyde

Both were signed from the B team which pays in that league. None of them got a sniff with the proper teams.

They were signed to The Rangers and Celtic but played for the respective reserve teams however were full time professional players….unlike any other lowland league club. Uneducated to suggest otherwise.

So the same as Clyde then?

Clyde last signed a player 4 days ago...from Ayr. Andy Murdoch, who is 29, a full 12 years older than Liam.

I think Hoggan is quite promising and lending him to a Lowland League side is consistent with the "pathway" used for other youth players, but clearly other options for LB are being considered for now. I hope a loanee is one of them.

Going back to the Livi game, I thought the Ngwenya substitution was interesting for three reasons.

One, it may have been another soft-tissue injury, or it may have been a precautionary substitution, which may indicate that we intend to manage things better this season, or perhaps we are being too cautious. Time may tell.

Two was rather than play a flat back 4, we maintained our starting shape. This suggests clearly that for this game at least, fitting players to the formation, rather than formation to the players, was more important.

Three was the choice of replacement LWB - Comrie was not the worse choice as at least he is a natural defender and presumably he understands where he is meant to be positionally assuming the role is the mirror image of RWB - but the options of Breen and/or Young and/or Hoggan and/or Otoo were not chosen, any of which would have been a more natural fit, all of which is indicative of McPake`s thinking.

Clyde’s a lot further up the leagues then Gala Fairydean

One league. And still part time training.

Please don’t compare the clubs. You really are struggling.

Just joining in for fun.

I agree with everything.

How can you agree with everything? Surely there’s one bit you disagree with?

Where?

Must be someone coming in, especially with Ngwenya picking up an injury and the potential of Comrie moving over to the left hand side.

Can barely name a bench as it is, so if we’re letting a player go there must be some coming in this week.
