Yeah no idea what he’s going for today? Dave that looks about the best as I can see unless mcpake will fudge the players to fit the usual 352 or more like 5311 formation.
Interesting trying McCann as a possible winger…..might as well I guess and it gives some energy in the team considering wotherspoon and wighton aren’t the most mobile.

McCanns best position is in off the left really - he’s not a natural striker. But I don’t see that being how he sets up today!

McCann & Wighton in the starting XI means surely it can`t be the dreaded 5-4-1... I`d prefer Hamilton at the back if it means Otoo can play in midfield though. KRH & McCann wide & Wighton in the middle sounds fair enough.

Maybe but we’ve got a lot of senior players all signed on long term contracts who will be costing us a lot. As much of an argument against McPake as the clubs funding model.

Otoo not a left back - caught out inside a few minutes and rightly booked, then wandering about in no man`s land for their goal.
The annoying thing is that Falkirk don`t look great but they look comfortable. We`ve managed a few half chances as their defence doesn`t look solid at all.
Chalmers and Hamilton trying their best but not sure what Wotherspoon is offering and Ritchie-Hosler has barely had a run at the full back all game.

Agree McCann was lazy not tracking back ,they are getting so much room on their right and we are doing nothing to close that down ,surely the manager sees this

Mccann will be instructed to be high and wide when we have the ball.
Mehmet just lobbed it into the centre of the pitch to a falkirk player with bags of time.
Otoo was too central, but again, we had the ball.
Otoo is struggling out at left back his main role should be centre mid just breaking up play.
Up top everyone is just too far apart from each other.
Hopefully, we are not adrift at the bottom when the new manager gets to access the market in January.
The way it is going. Mcpake won`t see November.

Paul Allan was not good enough. He may have been kept on if someone like chalmers was out of contract but that’s not much of an endorsement. We need better. We don’t owe young pars supporting players who are not good enough to take us forward a living (although maybe we do when you consider McCann)

Allan was an ok player, I get the impression that we would`ve preferred to keep him and lose Chalmers but Chalmers has a year on his contract and Allan`s contract was up.

I think realistically, the game was over after 6 minutes as we struggled to create chances. We went one down early on and only created our first chance early in the second half. I felt we could have played all day and not scored. The penalty was soft but meaningless at the end of the day. We were second best I thought, second the the ball not strong enough and positive enough when we had it. I felt we lacked a competitive edge. Alot of focus was on going down the wings, but the ball was easily taken away from us, so attacks petered out.
We will need 2 or 3 good loans in to mix it up. Need a quick turn around otherwise heads will go down and confidence will suffer.

I think JM was honest in his post match interview. Falkirk were the better team, our squad as it stands is not strong enough to push for the promotion or playoff spots. At the end of the day you can only concern yourself with things you can control. No point in worrying about things you can`t control.

I’m not really following what you’re trying to say. We were in control but someone, somewhere has made total bum decisions and now we look like a league 1 team.
Is it positive that Kane came on? Aye probably but we were getting beat 1-0 when he was off and then when he came on they scored a 2nd so what difference did he actually make?

It needs 3-4 players in and fast. Falkirk were nothing special, a couple of quality players would lift that Pars side. The bottom line is the Germans are out of their depth and need to sell up.

Agreed, and a lot of these players got us relegated from the Championship too 😂 no improvement to the squad and theres no pace in the team at all

Im not saying there isn’t some Championship quality players in there…..but you need a manager that can release that potential, which I don’t think we have now

We miss the energy of Edward’s charging up the wing and have nobody to do the same in the squad so I don’t know why we don’t just rearrange the tactics to accommodate what we have now.
A 4-3-2-1 would seem sensible and go much more through the middle and even route one when needed.

There were one or two positives but I really feel I’m clutching at straws.
I was seriously considering going to the shinty instead, that’s how bad things are – I feared we could lose by 4 or 5, so getting away with 2 (and a soft, late penalty to boot) was something of a relief.
We started with a back 4 (hurrah!) but only 1 up front (boo!). I didn’t expect Taylor to start – there’s a world of a difference between looking good coming on for 15 minutes against a tiring team that’s defending, and doing it for an hour from the start.
So I could accept the formation – there are arguments for any set-up and given the wind and the nature of the opponents trying to keep things tight and not lose the game in the first 20 minutes is a plan. But it didn’t work.
One thing about making mistakes is often they cost you twice. Appointing Peter Grant led to us appointing Hughes to try to get out of the pickle we’d got ourselves into, for example. Otoo seemed to make several errors just before the first goal – letting the boy get to the ball first, letting him get past him then hauling him down and getting booked and I wonder if that led to some hesitancy for the goal as their player was able to get a shot away unchallenged. Of course it was a poor clearance from Mehmet and McCann seemed a bit slow in getting back (and I’m still not clear how the ball ended up in the net).
McCann and Wighton were switched midway through the half, for some reason. And then another change was made at half-time, reverting to a back 3 in a 3-4-1-2 although again Comrie was filling in out of position due to the our self-made left back crisis (Edwards is a huge loss and I’m uncertain as to whether we got value from his transfer). Even later, we almost had a front 4 with MOH on the right and KRH on the left. Otoo played pretty well in the second half, and Kane looks an upgrade on Wighton – he seems to know what he’s doing, and more importantly what his attack minded players should be doing. I hope he is passing on his knowledge.
However, we don’t seem to be getting the break of the ball at the moment (and I don’t think this is just bad luck). Confidence is beginning to drain and it seems that players are hoping or waiting for things to happen, not expecting them or making them happen. McCann is getting frustrated – he was told about 18 months ago to hit them hard, and he is doing that, but not on target.
It seems like poor recruitment, poor coaching and poor tactics are coming home to roost. And the bin bags blowing around all game just exemplified what appears to be a deeper malaise.
But it could all change very quickly.
