That would be a very young centre half pairing. I’ve not seen enough of Young but logically you would have thought Fisher (since he obviously doesn’t like breen) would have been the other one 🤷🏻‍♂️ just given his age and experience but if McPake is wanting to play Young, there is obviously a reason for it.

Young was promoted to the first team squad in the close season so McPake obviously rates him. The only way he is going to improve is by playing games, preferably for us if he has the right players around him.

Suddenly we look pretty well-covered at centre back, especially if we stick with a back four. This of course leaves Hammy and Otoo free to play in midfield although I`m beginning to wonder if defence is possibly Hammy`s best position.

I thought he was very solid and measured. I agree he won`t have a much bigger test this season than the Ayr forward line. Hopefully he can get forward at set pieces and present a threat at the other end. Young also played very well. We have a good group of young players. I don`t think we have seen the end of Bene. He has too big a heart to give in. We just need to be more aggressive in front of goal. If McCann can get a few shorts off in front of goal rather than firing in crosses I think there are 10-12 goals in him this season. That`s where his strength is.

Can’t agree with you on McCann I’m afraid. He has had his chance as a centre forward and imo doesn’t cut the mustard there. Maybe at a push out wide.

I think his best position is sitting right in front of the defensive line. For me he’s too wee to be a centre half but he’s got a good defensive brain.
We lost a couple of goals last season from him basically being pushed aside 🤷🏻‍♂️ I like him in our team though, just not at CH unless it’s absolutely necessary

Yes he took a decent free kick that tested the keeper. I think he just needs to be a bit more direct and ambitious in front of goal. People on here have said that he flatters to deceive. I read that a different way and would say he has it in him it just hasnt come out yet. He certainly puts the effort in, just needs the self belief sometimes. I believe he has at least 10 or 12 goals in him this season.

I’d love to agree India par but there’s just nothing to back that up at all. The stats all point the other way. In league 1 he struggled to make any impact when many believed he would kick on at the lower level.

Not a single league goal in 2024 so far, I’d love to share your optimism but it just sounds more like your heart ruling the head and you wanting him to come on. Ie if we brought Jakubiak back would you expect him to score 10 goals this season?

Think mccann scored one free kick at queens last season, so if we just keep him on the free kicks you would hope he’d at least get 1 goal a season.

I respect your opinion Berkey.he has the physical presence needed for this league. I think it`s a confidence issue but I think was a problem across the whole team. I hope we have turned that corner a little after the Ayr game. I wasn`t a fan of Jak to be honest. He had one good game against Dundee Utd but that was it for me. I appreciate however that he suffered injuries. Jak is towards the end of his career wher McCann still has time. I do see this as a big season for him to push on and improve.

At the end of the day the stats back you up. He doesn`t score enough goals. I do think he`s a handful for defenders and can contribute to the cause.

He`s not as bad as you repeatedly make out and if/when we let him go someone will get a tune out of him.

My view is we just need the right player to start unlocking defences to create chances for McCann and Kane to convert.
It wouldn`t at all surprise me if Lewis moved on and started scoring regularly.

He had 36 games under Crawford and never scored a goal.I saw more 0-0 draws under him than any other manager.Great player for us but uninspiring as a coach for me.

I agree. I think McCann puts in a huge effort. His free kick was good and he put in a few fast crosses which could have been dangerous. I don’t think he is any worse than anyone else in the team and think he will get better.

14 goals in 6 years. 2.3 goals a season on average over his tenure. That`s in all competitions. 10 league goals. 1.4 goals a season. He is 23 years old. I am tired of hearing about how he "will come good". The crosses could have been dangerous if he played with his head up but he doesn`t. I am at a loss to see what he`s done to justify his almost ever presence in the team. To the point that he`s even played as a wide player.

Wee Eck, I can`t disagree with you there, but he must show it in training because, apart from 1 or 2 decent moments in games, he is generally a headless chicken.

I don`t particularly like calling one of our players that, but it`s exactly how I see him in games.

Managers down the years see a big strong physical specimen and I`m sure they work hard with him on the technical side, but it`s just no happening.

Also, he doesn`t have a tough `edge` to him, as demonstrated when that nob Rovers keeper jumped all over him after missing the penalty, and he let him do it...he`s maybe just a big nice guy after all.

McCann’s strengths dictate he should play wide on either wing. He’s not a striker and doesn’t have the poaching instincts needed. He is definitely able to contribute to a successful team at Championship level.

I do believe he has 10 or 12 goals in him this season. He has got that ability. Every goal brings confidence. If he gets an opportunity anywhere near the edge of the box, he just needs to be confident to have a go. Alot more positive today I thought.

This is one season on, so he will be improving with experience and game time. He just neèds to keep plugging away at I think it will come.

Don`t try to put this on us.

This comes down to basic English interpretation.
If there were any indicators at all in either your comment or the history of the conversation that you were referring to a punishment for naughtiness as P suggested, or even as you suggested after he threw you a lifeline I might have given you the benefit of the doubt.

Your entire demeanour, the tone, and all of the context prior to the comment about pulling down his trousers suggested dominance. Adding the trousers part undeniably suggested sexual dominance of one male by another.

You can protest all you like, but I think you would be best just letting it go as an unintentional faux pas.
