They’ve had their tournament and the glory hunters are away back under their rocks until they return if we get near a tournament again looking for tickets and whinging about imaginary threats like points harvesting.

If they endured the drek many of us have during the last 30 years (mostly spent in tournament wilderness) then an uninspiring tournament (totally expected loss to the hosts) and some poorly selected friendlies with 3 totally expected losses (draining confidence and momentum) then it might put things into perspective…..but it won’t as this is a repeated cycle that just gets worse with inflated expectations and modern entitlement

I like to see Gauld given a go as well - he`s a bit different to what we normally have.

Personally I`d play McTominay at centre half (he`s better there than the `specialists`) then a midfield of Gilmour, McGinn and Gauld - then Morgan on the left, Doak on the right and Dykes through the middle...

You`d need a combative player in the midfield with that team. Switch Doak for Mcginn behind Dykes and have McTominay in midfield (our best goal threat)

That’s about 4 times this half Gunn has kicked the ball out to the right side, they’ve won the header and countered forward looking dangerous. Why are we persisting with this? Need to get McLean and Ralston off. Both are miles off it. It’s pathetic we’ve got Celtic’s second choice right back starting for us.

Just because he assisted a goal doesn’t change the fact that he’s struggled for the full 90 and gave away a stupid penalty. As we speak…. Another stupid penalty given away by another clown that should be nowhere near the team.

Disagree about Dykes, he did well in this game and we struggled to get forward once he tired, and Shankland just didn`t put himself about quite the same. But the rest should be in the bin.

Agree with all except Dykes. Feel he gets stuck in and brings others into play. Hanley is utter mince, Ralston wouldn`t be anywhere near the squad if he wasn`t a Celtic sub.

Best we have played for ages. Thought Ralston was ok tbh. Good to see Gauld and Doak getting a game. Unlucky to lose. All the talk about Hanley diving in when he shouldn’t have but very little talk about McGinn losing the ball in the build up. McGinn like the Euros was poor again.

Or play his favourite 3 at the back and use wingers? There were other options but he was always going to play Ralston after the criticism he got at the Euros.

I would tend to agree regarding Hanley, McLean and Ralston
They really are not good enough ! Hoping for a different line up on Sunday but knowing Clarke he will stick with the same players ,
The Poles didn`t need to do much to beat us , we managed to press the self destruct button ourselves
Only thing I can say is there was certainly some positives to take from the game but to only win one game in the last thirteen isn`t very good either ,
Cannot give any team at this level a 2 goal start either it`s not as if we are prolific goalscorers

I thought Scotland played fine. Gunn is coming in for criticism on the beeb, but I don`t think he can be criticised too much. The first goal was right in the corner after skidding off the surface, the second a clinical pen, the third a rubbish pen that he might have saved had it been struck better.

Doak looked lively when he came on, Gauld was very composed. I thought Ralston was OK as well despite the brainfart for the first pen, and I`m very positive about the midfield of McT, Gilmour and McGinn - that`s better than most international midfields.

We`re in desperate need of centre halves - McKenna is OK I think, as is Hendry - but Hanley is way off it.

On another note (and, cards on the table, Arsenal are my local team) I noticed both teams `delaying the restart` several times after free kicks were awarded against them. Not a single yellow was issued, and the game was fine. The more I think about it the more I think Rice`s second yellow vs Brighton is suspicious as hell.

If we dropped every player who made a mistake we wouldn`t have any to choose from. Porteous could have played instead of Hanley, and maybe even Ralston, but he gave away a stupid penalty in the Euros against Germany.

McBurnie is playing at a far higher level than Dykes, and playing well by all accounts. We started with a 3rd tier English league player and 3 from Norwich (1 hardly gets a game), at home in probably the easiest game we have this year. If that wasn`t the time to blood youngsters or inexperienced caps then it`ll never happen. On the flip side, has Craig Gordon retired? I dont think I`ve seen Gunn actually save a shot.

This has got the end of Craig Brown`s era written all over it.

Daft penalty to give away to lose the game but I reckon they manufactured their first penalty by running into Ralston to make contact so he could then fall over.

Thought that to myself last night as well, as soon as the line up was announced...

Except that Brown`s teams could defend.
