Having a confident sweeper keeper with the addition of a big kick seems to have helped McPake change shape and allowed two young centre backs to be played too. It will be tough on either if when Bene is fit he gets a free pass into the team. I’m not sure the manager wanted to keep playing 5 at the back but Mehmets skills ( shot stopper) didn’t let him.

I mean no offence to Deniz, but Tobi’s weaker foot is better than his best foot……I think his time is up as our No1 but also keeper wasn’t really tested tonight. Could certainly have caught one of his late punches too!

he had two very good punch outs at the end when needed ,Mehmet 9 out of 10 would either not came for the high ball or flapped ,spreads confidence through the team

With the rain making the ball slippery, I wouldn’t criticise the keeper for punching especially at that late stage of the game. Safety first!

The 2nd one he had time to catch, and it didn’t really clear that big a distance, but the big difference was a keeper willing to come for crosses regularly and not having the fear of it.

He’s got a bit of a swagger about him. Infectious. Young and Fogarty will get better together.

When in possession it`s like having an extra man, he`s got some distance with his clearances and not aimless either. Haven`t seen much of his shot-stopping ability but he`s different class with the ball at his feet.

Despite not having a save to make, I really liked what I saw. He came for balls that Mehmet would not have attempted, can kick well with both feet and was way out of his box at times setting things up as an extra outfielder. Also thought that Fogarty and Young were excellent tonight. And Cooper did some good stuff when he came on so good night for the newbies.

A know rovers were down to 10 so struggled to get forward but thought he did well, was also really happy with young and fogarty who didn’t give me any panicky moments.

Thought the keeper was going to start doing overlaps of the wing backs at one point. Really like how much he wants the ball. I think a couple confident players might try their luck at lobbing him from their own half though.

Absolute breath of fresh air so far. 2 games, 2 clean sheets and no messing about at the back. Pretty sure he could have a dig from his own box with those kicks!
Expect it to be more testing next week away at Partick, but a great start for him.

One of the rarest of moments, when a Pars player revolutionizes the way the game gets played. Tobi, our keeper, can only get better at spraying incredibly long passes about. Could this usher in the end of tippy-tappy football from the six yard box?

He is a very good striker of the ball. Over the games he has played what he is able to do is relieve the pressure on the defence and quickly translate an opposition attack to pressurising their defence with long balls that enable Mccann and Kane to run on to. It gives other options to slow build up play and makes the opposition think twice.
After the criticism the management team have received, I think hats off to them with the additions to the squad they have made no doubt under difficult financial constraints.
You also have to credit the BoD for releasing funds to strengthen the squad for the long season ahead and, at the same time, continue the youth development. We are already reaping the rewards of this policy with the young homegrown talent coming through. Essential for the future of the club in my view.

Maybe we stick him on penalties as well or the odd free kick if he fancies it (although McCann is getting better with these).

I was a ball boy when Gier Karlsen was our keeper … he so wanted to be doing everything. He took throw ins … and got caught out twice I recall. But he was your original sweeper keeper.

The late GK had a prodigious kick out from hand - but that was in the days a keeper could pick up everything and move to the forward edge of the penalty area - our new man has a helluva long range punt from a ball on the ground - and he can direct it accurately as well - what’s not to like ?

Apparently Joe Hart worked a lot with the young goalkeepers at Celtic. It was him that introduced their starting position to be further up the park. Seems the way things are going and I can really see the benefit. Also learning when to play short and when to go long-but going long with accuracy. It’s brilliant to see.
