Per manager on COWS Todd has been doing full training with the squad and looking good. Bene is improving and getting a scan on his hamstring today but is unlikely to be available for Saturday. Mebude and Clay are still at the club and could play as trialists for the reserves against Falkirk next Tuesday.
If seems to be taking an awful long time to come to a decision re Clay.

I wonder if they are thinking if Todd gets back to full fitness and back in the first team, then are they going to need Clay. Seems to have been here a long time for no contract being offered, you would think the player himself would be wanting to get it settled or get off to a club where he is going to get a deal

On the other hand, if they aren`t going to sign a player to cover left back, Otoo is the only alternative there and Clay would provide additional cover in midfield. From what I saw of him in the reserve match v QP he would be a capable addition. I can`t believe he has hung around so long, presumably without pay, unless an offer is likely.

As you say wee eck, I think it`s positive he is still training with us. Without inside knowledge it`s hard to say what the position is.

The manager would`ve signed Clay a couple of weeks ago. The board are the hold up on that front.

Yeah that would be my concern we`ve done ok recently does the board once again think we have a squad good enough to just get on with it without further recruitment.

Both players are there as manager rates than and they will improve team/squad, its is just a matter of waiting on board signing off money and contracts

considering what he has gone through since the turn of the year they are never going to sign Mebude without seeing him in a game first, even after that it might only happen if Sutherland goes out on loan.
would i sign Clay if he is after similar money to what he was on down south, to be a backup and basically only play if there is an injury in another position? no chance.

It feels like the likeliest thing going on. Same happened with Cooper training for a fair while out of contract.

McPake must be very persuasive if he can convince players to continue training with us indefinitely with no guarantee of a contract at the end of it. Cooper was understandable as he was probably desperate to get back into full-time football but you would think a seasoned pro like Clay would have plenty of other options available.

It may be that he lives up here and has ties here?

I noticed that when Clay got revealed as a Sutton player last year he was jointly unveiled with Josh Coley. They got relegated from the English leagues in the end so maybe there aren`t many options available to him at a decent level? He wouldn`t be likely to be hanging about here if other offers were on the table.

Ok I haven`t heard anything on the transfer Market so Does anyone who is in the Know or know a man that knows a man have any idea if we are bringing anyone in before the window closes ?
even a wee conspiracy theory would be good of who we think will come in

We had a guy doing some running during the warm up with a squad number for 30 odds. Maybe the fact he had a squad number might mean he has signed....

Really need a couple in today. Dapo would be a great addition but we’re badly needing a full back and winger too.

Do players who are free agents need international clearance? Because he`s a free agent doesn`t have to sign today does he?

Why sign someone today so they can get a weeks training under their belt with the squad when we can leave it to Friday afternoon to save a few hundred quid.
Sat is quite a big game, would really like to see some quality brought in today and maybe if fit enough they could make the bench and give us an additional option on at.
If it’s a player requiring international clearance maybe our current owners have helped find this player and are trying to get it over the line?

We can sign all the quality or experienced players but it comes down to the poor management/formation/tactics…. How McPake can’t see this is disappointing but Dundee fans did say this would happen…Dull football!

International clearance is just the term used for the national association clearing it.
We have not utilised the loan market at all this year though - 1 of a possible 4 in Scotland and 1 from unlimited amounts from England - really poor going. Was this not a reason for us not signing players earlier in summer?

Charlie Reilly just signed for Inverness on loan even though they`re rumoured to be heading for administration.

Possibly. Hardly seems the ideal environment to place a young player if the parent club is interested in his development though.

a total of 6 loans signed in the Championship over the whole month. a few teams had said they were only really looking at free agents because of lack of options and quality available.

On the serious side though I certainly hope we are bringing in 1 or 2 ,but as others have said it maybe wouldn`t matter who we bring in as it`s sometimes it`s how they are set up ! and we know where the blame lies for this

😀 Just cleared customs but unfortunately heading in the wrong direction (back to Africa). Unfortunately at 67 I’m a tad too slow these days (although still managed a 32.3 second 200m late last year).
