`St Mirren footballer Shaun Rooney has been charged with assaulting an 18-year-old woman in a Glasgow takeaway. The defender is also charged with breach of the peace involving an 18-year-old male during the incident on 19 September. Police Scotland confirmed the latter charge is being treated as a hate crime.
The Paisley club previously confirmed the 28-year-old had been suspended pending a precautionary investigation into an "alleged incident" and that he would not be playing for the Premiership side in the immediate future.`

Sounds like a pretty unsavoury incident, although I`ll refrain from castigating him until he`s had his day in court.
Fair play to St Mirren for suspending him.
