No need to bring in a new manager from outside our club.
We have a decent one in John Mclaughlan. He has done a
great job in the 2 games he has been in charge. Keep him on.

Andre Villas-Boas won the Portuguese league and UEFA cup with Porto when he was 34. They’re just a wee bit bigger than us. The whole age thing is dumb.

Have to agree with this, he`s a good man, deserves huge credit for the last two games and the security of going back to a role he not only enjoys but is pretty decent at.

It shows what these players are capable of, I think it`s more a case of McLaughlin giving the players the freedom to express themselves than him doing anything radically different since last Monday.
Consistency is now the big thing if Tidser does indeed come in, we have to go on a bit of a run to keep up with the pack. The squad has been so used to a negative approach so let`s hope that has changed for the season.

Don`t think he`d want it. Much safer job in an academy. You can`t go off a couple games as well.
Thought he was excellent today, tactics spot on, we suffered when we needed to, correct subs at the right time. All round perfect performance from everyone involved. Including the support.

Maybe there is also an element of remorse with the players in getting their manager sacked, that contributed to that performance today. I`m sure they were gutted for James McPake and having performed so badly in recent games have been determined to show us all that they do have some guts and determination.

Yeah, said he hadn`t slept and he was clearly feeling a bit of internal pressure. Think the Academy role suits him to the ground, although would be good if he had an input on things given he`s looked at both sides we`ve faced and come up with different game plans for both.

I have to disagree with you, Paralex. There`s no way the players weren`t doing their best under James McPake, but losing had become a habit, as it had under Peter Grant and John Hughes. The fact that they have performed so much better under John McLaughlan suggests that he managed to instil self-belief and change their mindset by setting them up in a more offensive formation.
7 goals in 2 games, against teams pushing for promotion is a most impressive stat.

Be very surprised if Tidser hasn’t had any contribution into set up and tactics.
He has known that he will be taking the job in advance of the Falkirk game.
But all credit to John he was the man in charge and deserves the plaudits.

I`d be very surprised if Michael Tidser had ANY involvement either today or v Falkirk. Why would he? There has been no official announcement that he has signed a contract with the Pars, so as far as we know, he is still Kelty`s manager.
It`s a bit like viewing a house and putting in a bid for it. Still a bit premature to call it your house if the sellers haven`t even accepted your offer. 🙄

No official announcement doesn’t really mean anything though to be fair.
It could all be done and dusted and money to be wired to Kelty next week so to all extent and purposes it’s a done deal and he could’ve.
Don’t think he has though.

There is such a thing as the new manager bounce, and I am sure that has come into play in the last two games. The tension in the dressing room, coming from the poor results, the league position and the resulting apprehension of the backroom team, that their jobs were on the line, has been relieved from the players and they are reacting to that. The manager picks the team formation. Does he really tell them to play negative football. I very much doubt it. No manager I ever played for ever told the team to hold back. All games have the ebb and flow of either team having spells of attack and spells of defence. That`s down to the strength and skill of the players as individuals and a unit, not to do with a manager`s tactics. The main ingredient of a successful team is in the belief, skill and determination of the players to win. If the players need a guy shouting from the dugout to instill that, I doubt if they will ever succeed in any game.

Was anyone listening to Radio Scotland today before the game? Brian McLauchlin said it was almost certain the change of ownership would go through and Michael Tidser would be appointed manager. He mentioned the ex-professional gambler who led the consortium but said he was unlikely to attend many games himself. Michael Stewart asked who had advised them about the choice of manager and McLauchlin mentioned the name John Colquhoun. I presume he meant the former Celtic and Hearts winger who was also involved with the Players` Union and is now a football agent.

This is very worrying....John Colquhoun was involved in the introduction between parties for the ICT takeover last July....fast forward a few months and that couldn`t have worked out worse. We need to be very careful about what happens next

My recollection is that his name only came up in answer to Michael Stewart`s question about the choice of manager but I suppose if he was advising them on that he could have been advising them on other matters too.

I`m not convinced Tidser is the right move. Who knows if he`s really up to it? It`s a blind punt. McLaughlan has shown that he is a good tactician and can make this team play to its potential. I`d give him a shot until the end of the season and see where we are. If he wants to, of course.

We`ve been through this before on different threads. He`s a young manager making his way in the game. Made a decent start at Kelty. Let`s give him a chance instead of writing him off. There`s no guarantee an experienced manager would necessarily be more successful. Just think of some we have had down the years.
