I`m maybe missing something here but what is the story with him.
Seem him walking about east end on match days then on the bench last night. Out warming up a few times too. Is there a reason that he`s no where near the 1st team regards playing etc

Way out of favour with Mcpake. Maybe a new manager might make use of him. Never really had a run of games and I wasn’t really overly joyed with his signing. Big money he’ll be on too I reckon.

His game was all pace, not a huge `football sense` I think.
The games we have seen him , his pace has gone, he was really ineffective - it`s possible the new boss can work with him, but we`re in a relegation fight, so there`s bigger priorities.
Compare him to Kane, who even though is physically struggling (why he dropped a division) but who has real football sense, pretty much every game we can see his experience, laying off, running into space, getting `fouled` O`Halloran is maybe also looking at the end of his career.

Someone said in here he has an appearance fee written into his contract which may also explain his absence.
Despite whether you rate him or not, to not get on the pitch at all in recent times may indicate some contractual clause the club are trying to avoid.

Surely when mapake signed him he must have seen something that he liked.. I`ve never heard of players getting appearance money for this level.. seems like a crazy thing for the club to agree to imo. But ye I do think he will be 1 of the higher earners aswell here

He has a decent basic for this level but a chunky appearance fee on top. Same I believe as wotherspoon.
Signings like this make you wander if mcpake will keep Dave as his assistant in his next job

Don’t forget mehmet salton. The young player model might have worked had mcpake not signed a load of dross as the experienced element of the squad.
I heard about the appearance fee/bonus from 2 people connected to the club, it might be under a different name or a different way they are doing it tho.
Would explain why o’hallaran has been frozen out when we have needed attacking players on the park towards the end of games.

K76 plenty other players have been dropped this season then given another chance either from the bench or from the start.
I struggle to beleive it must be performances related as he’s not been given any time on the pitch at all to show any kind of performance. Unless he isn’t bothered in training.

He isn`t good enough for League 1. He was terrible for Cove there a couple years back and we went for him. Attitude quite obviously stinks as well. Hopefully he is out of contract.

When he came on for us, couldn’t fault the effort that I recall, quality was poor however.

"I heard about the appearance fee/bonus from 2 people connected to the club, it might be under a different name or a different way they are doing it tho."
If it was that then I don`t see why we`d name him on the bench for three or four recent games (and why he`d warm up as if he was ready if called upon). A late injury and suddenly he may be needed and it would trigger a bonus or contract offer in that case.

Kelty we put a clearly unfit Kane on the bench away at rovers he might have been there just to make up the numbers.
Will be interesting to see if he starts with a clean slate under Tidser…

Maybe the club are trying to encourage him to move on during the January window if anyone shows an interest. With relatively few injuries this season we`ve generally had an excess of players available and youngsters like Sutherland and Young are now regular members of the squad. It`s no great surprise O`Halloran has dropped down the pecking order.

To be fair, he can’t be match fit, so that would take him out of the equation right away.

Unfortunately, he will only move on if he gets a deal he will be happy with
He`s near the end of his career so any extra money he can pocket will probably come before playing time which will make it hard to move him on unless we can come to some agreement to terminate his contract....

`Contributing` to the last 5 months of his contract will be cheaper than paying the full amount and he might get the chance to extend his career if that`s what he wants.

Cheaper for the club, but depending on the figure, not acceptable to the player
Im sure he will he able to extend his career in 5 months time anyway

I was assuming our `contribution` would be sufficient to ensure he was no worse off financially than if he stayed with us to see out his contract. I thought that was how these arrangements worked.

This kind of thing might be part of the discussion around Tidser with a player or two going to Kelty in lieu of monetary compensation and Kelty not paying any contribution for them.
