 DUP Endorsement
Topic Originator: Buspasspar
Date:   Wed 2 Oct 19:54

The DUP has endorsed Boris Johnson's offer to the European Union.
It includes the creation of an all island regulatory zone for agriculture, food and all manufactured goods.

DUP leader Arlene Foster said it was a serious and sensible way forward which "allows the people of Northern Ireland a role which they didn't have".

But Sinn Féin described the prime minister's plan as "an act of political sabotage".

Another large bung methinks

If you paid attention you would find there are no new installations.
Stick with the facts.

So what happens in 4 years when UK and EU deviates on regulations etc and stormont decides it doesn't want to be different in anyway to the mainland and votes out of this agreement?
Does that just not put us right back to square 1?

To be fair DBP, square one would be a massive improvement on our current position...

The PSNI will recruit an extra 308 officers and staff by April 2020 after getting £16.5m in Brexit funding from the Treasury.
The force bid for the additional resources in light of the potential challenges posed in policing the border after the UK's EU exit.
In May, Chief Constable George Hamilton confirmed that a business case was being drawn up.
The force was also asking for new vehicles and other equipment.
Mr Hamilton said the money would be invested in "policing with the community and keeping people safe".
Policing Board chair Anne Connolly said it was "welcome that the chief constable's bid for additional resources has been successful".

And so it goes on

Could the DUP scupper the latest proposals? They're always very keen to tell everybody what they don't want but I've never been clear what their solution is. They want the UK out of the EU but they don't want a hard border between NI and Ireland and they don't want NI to be treated any differently from the rest of the UK. How are these three aims compatible?

I would be less worried about the DUP than the 21 Tory rebels.
That includes Hammond, Gaulke and Grieve all ex Tory ministers who have inflated opinions of themselves.

These people are committed Europhiles and will do anything to stop Brexit despite their hypocrisy in saying they will abide by the referendum result.

Glad you think having principles is having an inflated opinion of yourself.

What's wrong with being a Europhile? I thought all Tories were Europhiles but some of them don't like the EU apparently.
