Boris Johnson and the baptism of his son: the thriller of the 'top secret' trip to Umbria

The face of Boris Johnson during the very delicate vote of the House of Commons on the Internal Market Bill, on Tuesday 15 September, went around the world. Tension for a key step, with his party's bad mouths for the unilateral decision to pass a law that does not respect the separation agreement with the European Union. For many, a disgrace to the credibility of the United Kingdom itself, as well as a move that can reopen the Pandora's box of the Northern Irish question. From what is known to Umbria24 (which worked on the story in synergy with the London correspondent of Repubblica Antonello Guerrera) the prime minister would have spent the previous weekend, that of 12-13, in Umbria arriving and departing aboard private jets. To do what? In the UK it was leaked that on Saturday 12th the baptism of Johnson's son took place in a top secret place. If the circumstance of the trip is true, it may have happened here. But Downing Street flatly denies the trip: "It's not true," she tells Repubblica , who asked her.

Vip at the airport A trace of the news was leaked in a note from the Perugia airport issued Thursday 17 September in which it is said that β€œin these days many names and many personalities from the political, sports and economic world have alternated. From the patron of Prada Patrizio Bertelli to the English Prime Minister Boris Johnson, preceded by Tony Blair (former UK Prime Minister) and not least the champion footballer Luis Suarez from Barcelona to take the Italian language exam at the University for Foreigners of Perugia Β». A way to underline how "Umbria and our port are at the center of the world". Surely Europe, given that the main protagonist of the arm with Brussels for Brexit would have been here in one of the most delicate moments in continental political life in recent years.

The yellow of Boris' flights Airport sources confirm Umbria24 the veracity of the note specifying that it is not a previous visit. From what has been learned, the British Prime Minister would have arrived at the San Francesco d'Assisi on Friday 11 September around 2 pm (touching on the meeting with Blair, who left that day after arriving on the 8th). Another source inside the airport reports that he saw Johnson's plane, but did not remember whether it was the 10 or the 11. The return flight, on the other hand, was supposed to take off on Monday 14 September at 7.45 am although it appears that an Embraer Legacy 500 took off at 8.27, landing at 9.39 local time at Northolt military airport, west London election of Johnson, Uxbridge and South Ruislip). From what appears to the Republic, Johnson had a meeting that morning with the British Minister of the Interior, Priti Patel, but he jumped at the last moment, perhaps due to an unexpected delay.

Wilfred's baptism But what would Johnson have done over the weekend in Umbria, moreover in full Covid emergency? British media The Sun and Telegraph reported (not denied) that Johnson and his partner Carrie Symonds baptized their son Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas, born last April, on Saturday 12. A source told the Sun that "after all that happened to Boris and Carrie this year (the premier was also hospitalized for Covid, ed.) was a very special moment. They shared it with a small number of people, family and friends. And the ceremony was simple but beautiful with lots of tears and laughter Β». It was leaked from the entourage that the couple will not release photos of the event as it was a special private moment, while Downing Street - the tabloids report - declined to comment on the news. Could this have happened during the trip to Perugia? The unusual traffic of private jets headed in those days to the Umbrian airport could also make him think. In addition to Johnson's alleged flight on Friday, two other planes land from London: a Hawker Beechcraft on Thursday 10 at 13.30 and a Bombardier Challenger 350 at 10.59 on Saturday 12. On Saturday at 15.34 a private plane also arrives from St. Tropez.

The friend Lebedev Then there remains a shadow of mystery as to where the ceremony may have taken place. There is no confirmation, but it is well known that a fraternal friend of Johnson has a base in Umbria: that Evgeny Lebedev, the Russian tycoon owner of newspapers such as the Evening Standard , The Independent and London Live TV , who among other things he named his wolf dog Boris. Son of the former KGB spy Alexander, his parties are very famous at Palazzo Terranova , near CittΓ  di Castello, where many personalities of the jet set were guestsEnglish. But also at the castle of Procopio, on the slopes of Mount Tezio, in Perugia, which in the past had guests such as Tony Blair himself. Johnson had been a guest of Lebedev on his previous trips to Umbria at least four times since he was Mayor of London . The last one in 2018, while he was foreign minister, caused a sensation for the photo taken in the waiting room of Sant'Egidio while, without any escort, he was about to board a Ryanair flight and seemed to have just had a 'good' evening. Of course, he had never flown to his friend as prime minister. The ceremony, if it had taken place, could have taken place in one of the two locations. All, of course, top secretwith the delivery of silence for guests and staff. This year Johnson honored Lebedev with the title of Lord. Did she also have him enter her family as her son's "godfather"? For now, Downing Street denies it without adding further details.

Aye, isn't Google wonderful? πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚

Sorry I missed this earlier, LA. Had I seen it, I'd have used the same tactic as BPP. The translation is a bit clumsy but it allows you to get the gist of it and it's certainly much faster than sitting down and translating the whole article in the traditional manner. πŸ™‚
