I thought it was a joke but after a quick search it appears that it's another theory dreamed up by someone. So much so that she's even felt the need to respond to it. It's probably been dreamt up by some insecure males who can't handle the fact that a woman is somehow more athletic and powerful than them. You have to feel sorry for them I suppose.

I think race has a lot to do with it. When Steffi Grad dominated women's tennis there weren't any theories doing the rounds that she wasn't female. But then she was white, blond and of ayreon heritage. Williams is black so there must be some other reason behind her ruling in a predominantly white sport other than just athletic ability.

Sorry, but it's "Graf" and it's "Aryan"

I'm not normally a grammar Nazi, but that was just annoying

Thanks AWP. The Grad bit was just a typo though. As for Ayreon is/was actually referring to the name of her granddad, Ayreon Graf with who she shares heritage.......

Not an uncommon response from Serena blaming someone/something for losing....Still got a long way to go though to emulate the great Johnny Mac.

Her outrage and arrogance was outrageous.

She has previous for outbursts and always when she is losing.

Amazingly the underdog kept her cool to serve out for the match, but her big moment was ruined by a pampered madam.

Well done to her.

Williams behaviour has just shown how bad the world has become. Accusing the umpire of racism and sexism while playing an Asian woman at tennis shows she is the lowest of the low. It shocks me even more that people are backing her and berating the umpire even more for him carrying out actions that were correct.

The racism and sexism card are played far too often these days and poor Osaka looked embarrassed when it should be the greatest moment of her career. Williams however, made it all about her. She should have felt terrible when she sat the state of Osaka at the award ceremony. The crowd were a total embarrassment also. Williams’s a disgrace and if the Tennis Associstion have any bottle, they should give her a year/two year ban and a massive fine. Williams is so fortunate to be in a position others will never get the chance to be and she should be acting as a role model, not encouraging people to play this card every time something doesn’t go their way. The world these days is far far to PC and easily offended.

There's a broader context here. I suspect that those that live everyday with perceived racism (or other isms) may have a different worldview than a middle aged white male.

Interesting reading about Osaka's background from her wiki page. I would imagine she has had plenty challenges in relation to race

Naomi Osaka was born in Chūō-ku, Osaka to a Haitian father, Leonard "San" François, and a Japanese mother, Tamaki Osaka.[7]

Naomi and her older sister Mari were given their mother's maiden name for practical reasons when the family lived in Japan.[8][9]Her father was born in Haiti and went to New York University before moving to Japan, where he met her mother and later married her.[2]

In racially homogeneous Japan, Osaka is considered hāfu, which is Japanese for biracial.[10] Her Japanese grandfather was furious when he found out that her mother was romantically involved with a black man. As a result of the interracial relationship, her mother did not have contact with her family for over ten years.[8] In a 2016 interview, Osaka said: "When I go to Japan, people are confused. From my name, they don’t expect to see a black girl.

Regardless of what’s she’s been through ipswichpar, there’s no excuse for her trying to drag an umpires name through the dirt when he made the correct decisions. She is trying to destroy someone’s career because she can’t take a defeat. This isn’t the first time she’s acted like a complete brat.
