Dunfermline Athletic

Happy Halloween ?

Date: Tuesday, 30th Oct 2018

This midweek sees a near full card of fixtures in the SPFL Ladbrokes Championship as 8 out of the 10 clubs participate in matches on Tuesday evening.

Partick Thistle vs Dundee United was moved forward to the weekend of the Irn-Bru Cup 3rd Round so they won`t feature tonight. However, Dunfermline Athletic will as Allan Johnston`s men head up the A9 to Inverness.

Caley Thistle are unbeaten in 21 league matches - dating back to last terms second-tier fixtures while the Pars head into match-day 11 on the back of consecutive home losses to Queen of the South and Dundee United. Defeat to Alloa Athletic in the Challenge Cup via penalties has consigned the Fifers to a disappointing October, which they hope can be concluded with a positive result this evening.

A 0-0 draw away to Alloa on Saturday extended John Robertson`s sides unbeaten run, but, the ex-East Fife gaffer - who has recently just signed an extension to his contract, which sees him tied up til the summer of 2021 - was despondent about his clubs attacking flare in recent weeks.

The former Scotland striker thinks his players have lost a little bit of edge in the final third from the beginning of the campaign, and that has saw ICT fall behind local rivals, and current league leaders, Ross County.

Carl Tremarco left the field early on Saturday with an injury which could rule the hosts captain out of tonight`s encounter. Robertson continues to try juggle his squad with injuries reducing the pool of first-team options at his disposal. The side, who fell to fifth in the SPFL Ladbrokes Championship standings following Saturday`s scores (albeit only on goal difference, with QoS four better off), which saw the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium side increase their advantage over their West Fife counterparts to 5 points.

A win tonight for Johnston`s men would of course reduce that to two points and create a ever-increasing pack of teams who remain inconsistent and within the middle of the table.

Dunfermline are still searching for that right formula following a terrific start to the season. The first quarter seemed to fall away for the Pars after a good start and the East End Park outfit got off to the worst possible start in the second quarter with a 2-0 home to defeat by Robbie Neilson`s Dundee United.

Louis Longridge limped off with a groin strain while Mark Durnan went under the knife on Friday as he received a hernia operation. That reduces the options available to the management team as Sean Murdoch continues to miss out, too.

Kallum Higginbotham and Lewis Martin may come back into contention while youngsters Stuart Morrison, Matty Todd and Lewis McCann may sneak a seat on the bench.

The last competitive defeat suffered by Inverness was in the First Round of this campaigns Irn-Bru Cup as the holders crashed out to Dunfermline... It was a young and inexperienced group who travelled to the Highlands on that evening: Johnston will be hoping for a similar outcome, performance and scoreline tonight.

As pressure builds from supporters, everyone associated with DAFC will be hoping tonight is an early Halloween gift. A few tricks and a treat come full-time may just kick-start Dunfermline`s season back into life...

Come on ye Paaaaaaars! ⚽🏁🏆
