Museum appeals to Fans

The Scottish Football Museum at present is planning a display on Dunfermline Athletic within the history gallery on Scottish Football covering the halcyon 1960's era.

When the museum opened at the end of 2000 visitors at Hampden will be able to learn about Dunfermline's own success story during this golden period in the club's history.

At the moment the museum researchers are trying to source objects for display covering this period that could be taken on loan. They believe that they will be able to get programmes covering all the major European games as well as the Scottish Cup Finals but any souvenirs would also be a welcome addition. In particular it would be beneficial to display if possible items relating to the journey of the fans to the European away ties. Match tickets, airline tickets, postcards and maps would all be of interest.

The museum would also like to prepare a list of fans who travelled to the games for future interviews. The museum is building up an oral archive collection allowing the fans as well as the players and managers to tell their own experiences.

The final aim of the museum would be to gain a contact with some of the players who featured in the important games during the 1960's. Players such as Eddie Connachan and Dave Thomson from the first Scottish Cup victory or any of the players who faced Everton and Valencia in the Fairs Cup.
