Profile of new Pars player, Craig Brewster

Author: Jason Barber Date: Thursday, 6th Jun 2002

Dunfermline Athletic have so far signed three new players for next season. The most high profile one perhaps being Craig Brewster.

Here we take a quick look back at his career to date.

Brewster has become a well travelled man since begninning his career at Forfar. Playing alongside Stewart Petrie, his goal scoring in the lower leagues soon caught the eye of the Wee Team along in Kirkcaldy.

With them, he soon became a more feared frontman and scored an excellent 22 goals in 44 games back in 1992/93 when they narrowly one the league from our good selves.....

Moving swiftly on, Dundee United snapped him up close season and he became a regular scorer for them in his three seasons at Tannadice. He became a local legend when he scored the winning goal that saw United win the Scottish Cup final for the first time in their history.

A sabatical abroad soon followed, with 5 successful seasons with Greek outfit Ionikos narrowly beating the city of Dundee in the glamour stakes for Brewster. The goals continued at a regular rate with an average of 9 league goals each year he was there.

Hibs brought the big striker back to Scotland last season as a replacement for Mixu Paatelainen. Not too many goals as McManus then O'Connor took the glory of the finishes, thought Brewster's assists were plenty during the season.

Now, he has come to Dunfermline as the long awaited replacement for Jack De Gier. The Dutchman was bought as a reasonably long term striking solution by Jimmy Calderwood this time last year. N'Diaye was not fancied as the answer, so here's hoping that Brewster can justify Dunfermline's faith in him for the next couple of years!
