Rock Legends Nazareth play at East End Park!

Author: Jason Barber Date: Thursday, 11th Mar 2004

Yes, on Wednesday 17th March 2004, Nazareth will be performing a live one off gig in their home town.

Legends Bar is the venue for this special event. Tickets can be ordered NOW through DAFC, or you can take the chance and come along on the night, £20 is the entrance fee with proceeds going to Dunfermline Athletic Football Club.

The band agreed to perform this gig after recent financial worries at the club, so a big (and loud...) turnout would show appreciation for their gesture.

The Dunfermline rock quartet had a handful of hard rock hits in the late 1970s, including the hugely successful "Love Hurts."

Formed back in 1968, the band originally featured vocalist Dan McCafferty, guitarist Manny Charlton, bassist Pete Agnew, and drummer Darrell Sweet. The band had relocated to London by 1970, and they released their self-titled debut album in 1971.

Both Nazareth and 1972`s Exercises received favorable attention by British hard rockers, but it was 1973`s Razamanaz that moved them into the U.K. Top Ten.

Loud N` Proud and Rampant (both 1974) followed the same formula, yet it was slightly less successful.

But with their release the following year, Hair of the Dog,Nazareth became established as an internationally popular hard rock band. Featuring their revamped version of The Everly Brothers` "Love Hurts," the album sold over a million copies in the U.S. Until the end of the `70s, the band continued successfully as a quartet, releasing a series of Top 100 albums.

With the band now performing all their hits in this one off gig, Pars fans are encouraged along to hear some real music for a change!

Please take the opportunity to come along and help East End Park rock!
