Todd Looks To Get Back On Par At Dunfermline In 2025/26

Date: Thursday, 26th Jun 2025

It has been an unfortunate few seasons for highly rated Dunfermline Athletic midfielder  Matty Todd, as a series of various setbacks have significantly hampered the 24 year old`s progress and further development at the KDM Group East End Park in more recent times.

But after his unexpected more fallow period, the player is back at full fitness and he is again raring to go ahead of the coming 2025/26 campaign and it sounds like he ready to make up for some lost time.

Having officially arrived at the club back in May 2018 after graduating from the Fife Elite Football Academy, he had of course, played a few games for us by then as he was looking to impress and earn himself a contract, but following his signing he went on to make his competitive debut for us in the Scottish League Challenge Cup clash with Inverness Caledonian Thistle in August 2018, making a total of ten appearances across the 2018/19 campaign.

Following a very short loan spell out with Brechin City for further experience, he established himself in our squad upon relegation to League One and to date, despite the setbacks that he has faced, he has 104 starting appearances to his name across all competitions, with an additional 29 substitute showings. Across those games he has chipped in with 22 goals and a good number of assists and for those that use  sports prediction engines using form, stats, and fixtures to aid in their betting experiences, there is every reason to believe that Todd will add to those numbers in the coming years.

With only 27 showings to his name in 2024/25 and then just 21 the season prior, the local lad is determined to get back to his League One winning best and after a good summer, as well as now building himself up with a proper pre season with the squad out in Bulgaria, rediscovering his form is his only focus.

Explaining that he now realises he needed a good rest and a break following on from the spate of injuries that had held him back, if anything he now feels that he is mentally right, as opposed to just physically right, to play a major part in our next Championship campaign. Admitting that the return to pre season training and pushing himself, like the other players are, to pass those first initial key tests and really step up their early season work had been tough, but with a fresh mindset he was actually enjoying himself again.

Fellow  Pars fans  will ultimately have everything crossed that the young lad can keep himself injury free in the year that we have ahead of us so that he can well and truly get back to his best, given the vast majority of fans feel that there is plenty more to come from him on a development front. A broken collarbone that led to a three month absence, another pre season disrupted by having his appendix removed and surgery on his nose, he just has not got a break in the last few years, but his determination and dedication will not be doubted by anybody, so if anyone needs a break of the other kind, it is certainly Todd at this stage.

If he gets that in 2025/26 it means we all win, surely. And if you`re looking to manage a Scottish Championship rebuild of your own, you might just want to use Football Manager to see if Todd can become the engine of our midfield revival.
