Author: Niall Shaw Date: Wednesday, 18th Sep 2002

Chairman John Yorkston hopes that the good start to the season will mean a European place next year.

Currently sitting in third place alongside Hearts in the SPL, despite being on the end of a 6-0 home defeat to Rangers.

Yorkston said: "I`m very pleased with how it has gone - we`ve been playing some of the best football I`ve seen at East End since the 1960s.

"Our aim is to be third or fourth this season and secure a place in Europe. That`s being realistic."

Yorkston is also confident crowds in Fife will improve if the team continues to prosper.

The chairman has been disappointed with recent attendances at home matches, yet said: "If the team keeps playing the way it has been then I`m sure people will come back.
