I really enjoy the DAFC forum and am glad that foul and abusive language is not permitted but no action seems to be taken about using the name of Jesus Christ as a swearword, as in the post about Aiden McGeady. It does Dunfermline Athletic no credit that this is not reckoned as being offensive language.

I would expect that many people using this forum are religious and would hate to see religion used to infer swearing. Perhaps those people using this expression as swearing should try using similar expressions about prophets on Islamic Web sites. PS I don't go to any religious meeting places but there's do.

This has been done before... Last year if I recall correctly. If and when it is included in the rules it will be policed... Until then I'm afraid it's up to the individual.
This shall now be punted over to the admin forum where it belongs.

Why are topics always punted to other forums where they get so little further feedback as demonstrated by this one and others?
Genuine question as it makes no sense other than easier for the moderators to have an easier life with very little comments to admin on.

I'm not trouble making, I'm genuinely curious.

I've seen numerous examples of subjects on 'off topic' having a good feedback and debate but they get shifted elsewhere and the thread dies a death bar one or two comments.

I've always thought a forum should encourage feedback but maybe I'm wrong?

A debate that AAPS likes to have regularly.
So regularly that I'm growing tired of it.
May I remind you all that the site has rules that members and admin have to follow.
One of those rules states that if you have a problem with an admin decision you should email us.

Why don't you want to discuss this in public is also a good question?

I've seen numerous topics that get good feedback shifted to sub forums to kill the debate and whenever I, or anyone moans we get this "email" excuse then "thread closed "

Apologies for that... We do try to answer every email but unfortunately now and then a few can slip through as we all have lives away from this site and we can't be online 24/7.

[Why don't you want to discuss this in public is also a good question?]
Already answered that... Read the rules if you are still unsure.

Again (and I think I've been very clear on this issue) threads are only shifted if they are deemed to be in the wrong forum.
It's really not that hard to grasp... is it?

I'm being very fair and polite about this.
I've been very vocal before about all these sub forums as I honestly don't see the point of them.
It's a wee bit frustrating to read or join in a hotly debated thread in off topic for it to be shifted sway and there is a sudden end to the debate.

I'm certainly not hankering after an admin job believe me lol
I just don't understand the logic of killing a debate when a forum exists to promote just that.

We'll just have to agree to disagree AAPS.
You call it "killing a debate" and I call it putting posts in the correct forum if they are posted in one they don't belong in.
It's no secret that you would like the politics forum merged with off topic though. Maybe that's why you won't let this go?
Anyhoo... Threads still here and Dave has asked the question ref should the term "jesus christ" (when used as a substitute for swearing), be allowed or should it attract the same attention from admin as swearing does (deletion)?
Let's see what happens.

But, to get back on more relevant matters why is it we have so many sub forums when it's clear there are not enough members contributing to them?

Lol apologies... I use that a lot and will try to reign it in a bit.
The food forum could go... That never gets used really. We have already stated that music and TV etc is fine in off topic if the Op so wishes.
Politics is different... As you may recall, we took a vote on that after someone asked for it to be merged with off topic after the referendum was over. (can't remember who it was that asked.... But it'll come to me 😂)
The answer was no by a large majority as I recall .We could always take another vote on it and see what happens maybe.
Football and off topic deserve their own forums as you say... Admin has to be separate...
Trading forum needs to stay separate as does the Prediction forum.
Sticky is archive's basically. Supporters team needs it's own space too.
But... Getting back to your point about merging politics back into off topic...
The numbers for politics are very healthy at the moment... And have been for some time now. Blame Trump for that I think lol.
You are currently the fifth highest poster in politics by the way... You need to up your game 😂
You need to up your game even more in off topic... Your only the ninth highest poster there.
By the way... Do you think the term "Jesus Christ" should be treated the same as swearing?
We're trying to gauge opinion on this

If you get two complaints about a post or a member, is that more important than a thread with 100 + comments?
Bear in mind I sent my one and only email recently without reply and that's okay with me really but it's not helpful to keep spinning out the same guff about rules etc when you don't even follow them yourselves.

As kids am sure most would have sung these especially during the late 70's early 80's

Jesus Christ, Superstar,
Walks like a girl
And he wears a bra.
Jesus christ, Superstar
Wears frilly knickers
And a ladies bra.

Also used to sing ...

Jesus Christ Superstar,
Came down from heaven on a Yamaha.
Pulled a skid, killed a kid,
Paralysed his bollocks on a dustbin lid.

If Dunfermline Athletic is as it tries to make out, a family club, surely in common decency there would be no hesitation in banning the use of the name of Jesus Christ as a swearword. Because certain people don't believe in Him doesn't mean that He isn't Who He said He is. And the fact that He is loved and held in highest honour by many Dunfermline fans should be enough for all Dunfermline fans to respect that fact and not use His name as a swearword.

Well, exclamation or swearword, let me just say that this is worse than a swearword and I would remind you, for your own good of the third commandment. Why?
And how do you know God is a man?
Something or someone so grand in scope and existence would be beyond gender or earthly concerns...no?
It's simple...it is not profane language.
Maybe you should meditate over how such a "divine" person's name ended up something to be used in vain...certainly "his" negligence must have need a certain contempt.

Would anyone think I was swearing if I was to holler the name of somebody I admire, for example:

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

'Christ on a Bike' is the title of:

A show by Richard Herring, a British comedian
A short story by Ami McKay, a Canadian writer
A comic strip in Viz, a British adult spoof comic magazine

I can't find the earliest use of the phrase but here is part of
Richard Herring's comedy show, 'Christ on a Bike':

The earliest record I've found so far:

From Urban dictionary.com:

Christ On A Bike
(Exclamation)

1. An outburst of anger or frustration that the w*****s (q.v.) are once again "getting on your tits" through their incompetence.

Used by IT support staff to describe the feelings of loss of temper towards "users"; when once again, they've f*****d up the system.

2. An outburst of shock at the prospect of immenent death, injury or pain.
"Christ on a bike; don't those w*****s ever listen to a f*****g word we tell them?"

Does anyone think 'Gordon Bennet!' is swearing? Isn't that just an expression of incredulity?

Aren't 'Jesus Christ!' and 'Christ on a bike!' used in a similar way? Aren't the meanings of them similar to 'Saints preserve us!' Is that swearing?

It IS offensive to some people to use 'Jesus Christ!' as an exclamation, but if it isn't intended as an insult to him, why interpret it as such?

And now for something completely different...

The country is looking at getting rid of blasphemy laws but Paralex wants to take us back to the dark ages.
If your beliefs are so fragile that you can't handle someone saying Jesus Christ then you need to take a long hard look at yourself.
Fortunately we don't live under the Christian Taliban so I say allow people to say Jesus Christ as an exclamation of something that is unbelievable.
If they are really that bothered they can just pray for people to stop using it. If it bothers their Sky Fairy and they pray surely he will stop it being used.
Unless of course he doesn't exist.
