Istvan had previously played for Salgotarjani TC, Ujpesti Dozsa, and Bordeaux before making his move to Scotland.

Signed by Jim Leishman for Dunfermline on 5th September 1989 for 550,000 and debuted only four days later v Motherwell. His finest moments included a hat trick against St Mirren in 1991, and playing in the League Cup final in 1991.

Without a doubt one of Leishmans greatest signings, he won the Pars fans hearts the couple of years he was at East End Park, and remains a club legend, after being named in the squad 11 off all time.

He made 103 appearances for the Pars which saw him score 9 goals.



Recently appeared back at East End Park in the Stewart Petrie testimonial game, he stated "it was like being back home".
