Dunfermline Athletic

Ian Westwater

Date: Friday, 26th Dec 2003

Born 8th November 1963 in Loughborough.

The largest part of Ian`s career was spent at East End Park, although he started his senior career with Hearts, making his debut with them when aged only 16.

Signed in March 1985 for a fee of £4,000, Ian won over the Pars fans with some brave and exceptional skills between the posts as the club rose from Second Division obscurity to Premier League heights.

A swap deal took him to Falkirk in August 1991, but he returned to the club in March 1994 from a very short spell at Dundee, without ever playing for their first team.

Very fit and agile, many tried over the years but failed to remove him as first choice keeper. Lee Butler ousted him in season 1998-99 and Kris Mampaey came in for the last 15 matches of the 1999-2000 season. Holds several club records. Moved to Hibs in May 2000.
