New Trialist Kei Kamara
Date: Thursday, 22nd Dec 2005Pars fans bring Kei Kamara for a Trial at East End Park
With the transfer window about to open at the end of this month, Dunfermline Athletic FC are working hard to recruit new players for Jim Leishmans’ small and injury ravaged squad.
Over the next two weeks the Pars coaching staff will have the chance to size up Kei Kamara who has travelled to Fife from California. The young striker is 21 years old, and is 6`3 and about 13 stone - and is regarded as strong, fast and intelligent.
Born in Sierra Leone in Sept. 1984, he moved to Los Angeles in 2000 where he played at Leuzinger High School as they won the CIF Championship. He was named MVP (Most Valuable Player) and was the top scorer finishing with 27 goals in the season.
Kamara then moved onto CSUDH (California State University - Dominguez Hills) who have consistently been at the top of the college rankings for a number of years.
In his first year he was the league MVP and scored 16 goals.
This year he scored 15 goals and was included in the All American Team of the year as CSUDH got to the Quarter Final of the National College Championship.
Kei was spotted by a Pars fan based in California who through the wonders of the internet sought contributions from fans on the website DAFC.Net and also the Pars Supporters Trust to contribute for the players air fare to Scotland.
Kamara’s progress has been closely monitored by top professional sides in the USA and others abroad and Dunfermline Athletic FC have been given a rare chance to get the first opportunity to see this player at close quarters who would have otherwise escaped their attention.
