Centenary Club meet the manager evening

Author: Jason Barber Date: Wednesday, 20th Nov 2002

The manager, along with Barry Nicholson, Scott `Nipper` Thomson, Gus McPherson and Davie Nicholls, attended the latest Centenary Club event in the Jock Stein Suite.

There was a excellent turn out from Pars fans who heard Jimmy Calderwood make an opening speech before he and players made themselves available for discussion.

JC was in fine form, obviously on a high after recent results, as he praised his players for their work to date.

He admitted there had been only two games where he had not been happy with performances (the 6-0 against Rangers and the defeat in Aberdeen) but apart from those he could not fault his players.

Their work rate, commitment and general attitude were all given plaudits by the manager in genuine display of pride for the way the season has gone to date.

Calderwood added that the pre season tour to New Zealand had been accepted with a degree of aprehension, but the long trip had been worth it with the good start to the season.

On the subject of possibly returning to Europe, JC repeated what had been said to the press at the weekend. He was certainly not going to start making wild claims so early into the league campaign.

The players then spoke individually to the fans in attendance. Davie Nicholls was saying how good the team spirit is in the camp, even with players such as himself not playing every week.

All the players know that they stand a chance of playing now and again, with the tactics being adapted to suit each individual game.

Pete Campbell (Centenary Club chairman) took fans round the new hospitality facilities, looking at the new Kingdom suite and director facilities in the main stand.

Quite a few new members joined on the evening, making it a more than worthwhile occasion.

Prizes for members include monthly and quarterly cash draws, as well as full hospitality packages for home matches throughout the season.

Anyone interested in joining the Centenary Club can write to the club office at DAFC or email Jason@dafc.net for an application form.
