I seen the DAFC lassies on a team night out up the town a while back. They are rough. I`d fancy them to win in an 11 a side brawl with the Pars men`s team to be honest

Member of the ladies staff put a forearm into the back of one of the Armadale players heads when she was collecting the ball for a throw in.
Player in question is under 18 and was advised to call the police by her parent.
C'mon Ye Pars!

That`s not how the coach tells it.
I was told that they clashed into each other accidentally as she ran out of the pitch. The game went on, then it was abandoned at with no-one any the wiser as to the reason why at the time and then Police were called. There was no fight as far as I was told.
I wasn`t there, but that`s the version I was told by someone yesterday who had spoken to the coach as he is mates with him. He called him after he read the fantasy story on STV news.
Red star - Most of the team are young women, either in their teens or very early 20`s, your comment absolutely reeks of misogyny to be honest. "They are rough" Get in the bin.

Not wanting to defend the comment…
…but it was made in the context of a brawl and describing who your money would be on in a fight. so I read the rough comment more in terms of attitude and fighting as opposed to how you may have interpreted it…
In that context, the description could and has been used many times to describe a men’s team / central defenders etc

Pretty sure he wouldn`t have seen them fighting up the town.
Everyone knows what he meant.

or are you taking your interpretation and assuming everyone else has the same?
perhaps it`s the ex-leither snob in me these days, but I`d tend to assume they meant they look / sound / act like they`ve come from an underprivileged background - and in the context of a discussion about fighting, I`d probably also assume they`d have a propensity for agro verbal or physical.
I wouldn`t assume it was referring to how sexually attractive they were (if that`s what you were meaning?) - again, coming from Leith (beside the main drug/prostitute bit), I knew lots of stunningly beautiful women who were rough as f**k
