All about him tonight. Must be on the tele. He wasn’t responsible for our defeat but he had a shocker. Just watched the McCann pen incident. That’s got to be a pen surely?

The reason we lost wasn`t the referee unfortunately. We had chances we didn`t take them due to us not having a striker.

I’m by no means saying it was a red and I haven’t looked at it back but considering the ridiculous red cards been given out in the top divisions is Moult sliding into our keepers face not deemed dangerous play?

I thought he was entitled to go for it. It was accidental I think and as soon as it happened he was apologising

He seemed to be card happy with our players but lenient with theirs.
Don’t think I’ve ever seen a keeper getting booked for time wasting without at least getting a warning first.

No way you can class that as dangerous play, it was Moults ball and Mehmet was extremely brave coming for it. Although he was at fault for the first goal he saved us and ended up injured.

Often when competing for the ball in the air goalkeepers seem to be a protected species. In a situation like that though where it`s on the ground a striker can slide in however they please and it`s fair game.

Which is bizarre, considering if slid in like that against an outfield player and not get the ball, it`s at least a booking...

I don`t know what he was doing he kicked it slipped on his erse then instead of trying to get up and started throwing his arms about very strange.

If we are going by what we are seeing in the top flight, then Moult walks and we should have had a penalty.
Individual errors cost us points last night though.
If Mehmet is injured, give Little the jersey and give him a chance. Sharp is hopeless.

Thought that too. If he doesn`t lie on his erse protesting he may well have not got injured.

Disagree a bit on Sharp. When he came on we were playing it out from the back and creating chances. When Mehmet was on it was punt after punt up the pitch and rarely resulting in any action from our players.
I`d doubt Mehmet is injured. Probably a sore cheek today.

To be fair the throwing of stuff last night and at other games previously is embarrassing and dangerous. A lot of us are no angels at the games but come on! My mate years ago nearly got a sentence at court for throwing a coin as it hit a player and caused injury - all viewed on CCTV.

I totally agree.
Mehmet slips on his bottom all the time. I`ve seen him do it 5 or 6 times in the last year. It`s embarrassing. He also has absolutely no outplay.
Sharp is far superior to Mehmet in his outplay, we looked much better once he came on as he moves the ball out to the defence quickly and takes goal kicks tactically.
Unfortunately he`s made some howlers on the saving side where Mehmet has generally been good with that.
Can`t we just find a keeper who can do both?

You`re never going to see red for the challenge Moult made. Different if the ball isn`t there to hw won or if the keeper is already lying down. I do wonder if it was a double hit though and so it should have been a retake, but still.
The things that annoyed me about the referee last night were not giving the penalty at 1-0 (possibly thought McCann made a meal of it but its still a clear foul), not booking Grimshaw for taking out Edwards in the second half, booking Otoo when he won the ball in the first half and allowing the United players to surround him and show dissent - I think I counted 6 complaining about their weak penalty shout, then Gallacher had a mental go at McCann and the ref when McCann had already got the yellow card he was asking for.

After the goal, Grimshaw ran straight over to the pars bench with a GIRUY gesture. A total melt and a team of very unlikeable characters.

Dundee Utd in recent times have always been a pretty horrid club with horrid fans. They`re similar to Hearts in that they think they`re better than they are. What`s laughable is they aren`t even the biggest team in Dundee.
What I would say is fair play to them for their support. Great to see so many away fans, even if they are utter bams!

Very much a team in their managers image. Complaining about every decision, little niggly fouls to disrupt play, wanting players booked, etc. Kind of thing you`d love to see if it was your team but hate it when it`s the opponents. Again, very much like Goodwin the player who was awful to play against but someone I`d have loved to see in the "proper" black and white.

it was, was going to say no idea how the officials missed it but going by the rest of their performance....
thought the same about a retake but it should have been an indirect free kick to them instead.

Yes, it would be an indirect free kick for a second touch before another player plays the ball, but if he did see it then it would be fair enough to play advantage in that particular case, given where the ball went. I thought the referee had a poor game, second half in particular, but I didn`t have any issue with how he handled that incident.

When did that change? Always used to be a retake which seemed open to abuse and didn`t seem right somehow.

Up until a few years ago, the ball wasn`t in play after a goal kick until it left the penalty area, but the rule is now that the ball is in play as soon as it is kicked and moves. I`m not absolutely sure if the ruling on goal kicks changed at the same time, but it would be logical if that was the case. Under the old rules, the second touch would have happened before the ball was in play so a retake would make sense. Now, the ball is in play immediately so it makes sense that it just gets treated the same as if it was a free kick, where a second touch has always been an indirect free kick for as long as I can remember.

Yes the referee was very poor, even the commentators thought so
However we have many games where we have few chances and we are not competent enough to score, sadly not just a striker, its all the front. If it had not been for Moffat brilliance these last two games would have shown us as little threat, nervous defence. Good middle bad front. I still struggle with mcann, never think he adds value, but keep going play offs are very possible but only if we score.

He was fairly terrible. Laughable that Sharp was booked for time-wasting then 10mins later the Dundee keeper is utterly taking the p*** to walk off the pitch to get a ball, despite one of his defenders standing on the pitch with one. Absolutely blatant.

It was the inconsistency the ref showed to the two keepers that got me. Booked Sharp without warning and then conveniently turned his back and ran to half way every time United keeper killed another minute every time the ball was out.

I`m still unclear how the referee can stop play where there has been no infringement by team A - and then it restarts with a player from team B having possession.
As in the first half when a United player took a sore one - next thing their keeper has the ball for distribution.
Did I miss something ?

If there`s an injury stoppage or the referee touches the ball it`s an uncontested drop ball to the team who were last in possession. I don`t remember the incident but I`m assuming the referee was going to stop the play while the keeper had it and maybe he didn`t blow until he`d already released it?
