Wighton should be nowhere near that with a game on Saturday. Even a token 10 mins should be be authorised

Why is it nonsense exactly? The club should 100% not be allowing a first time player to take part in a testimonial at a different club 2 days before a game.

Since he was on the bench with his manager I’m pretty sure it was authorised.

No way should a first team player be anywhere near playing in a testimonial less than 48 hours before a first team game. I can only imagine he will be on the bench, but not play

He could have got injured getting out of the shower this morning. The fact that he came on for a couple of minutes suggests to me that he wanted to make a gesture to an ex-team-mate by appearing in his testimonial and our manager accepted that.
