They have received a 10-point deduction, applied immediately, for breaching the EPL`s Financial Fair Play rules. That puts them joint-bottom of the League with Burnley on 4 points.

I must say I have a soft spot for Everton, possibly because they were the first English side I saw `live` when the Pars beat them back in the 60s. If they broke the FFP rules they didn`t get much benefit from it!

I think Sean Dyche will keep them up. There`s a long way to go. The newly promoted teams are really struggling. Last year`s relegated teams are all in with a good chance of promotion. I don`t think there`s been a season when the three promoted teams were all relegated and vice versa, but there may have been a number of near misses.🤔

I`d imagine Man City will be a bit concerned as they`re facing a much larger number of charges. Who else is under investigation? Chelsea? Man U? Liverpool?

Not your average Sunday League player.

Man City will not be concerned.

They have enough money (ironically) to make the charges go away. Chelsea too.

Everton don`t.

City 115 FFP charges, gonna be interesting.
Everton 1 FFP charge -10 points

I think they`ll be very worried.

Nah.

Worst case scenario they`ll just do a Rangers (or Juventus). Take a hit for a few years but they`ll get to keep most of the titles they won through cheating. And then pretend it never happened.

I suspect the FA have already had their envelope, if rumours are true it’s been discussed at govt level I’ll be surprised if anything comes of it. Though why city feel the need to employ expensive lawyers would suggest they have something to hide.

Thing with that is, the English system has leagues full of teams that couldn’t care less about Man City being in the lower leagues…in Scotland all the part time clubs seen the money and the SPFL just HAD to have Gers in top 4 flights - City, if found guilty of even 10 charges, will be lucky to even be in the top 6 leagues in the pyramid down there!

Everton have gotten off with it basically. Had they been given this deduction last season then they`d have been relegated.

And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

I don`t think that`s a coincidence TOWK. Had they been in a relegation fight - the penalty would be less. This makes the punishment look tough, without actually being tough.

The English Premier league bowing down to any club , country that owns an English Club with enough money .

Agree that it couldn’t have been a better time if they were to get it. The year it actually happened Burnley would’ve stayed up and if last season then Leicester.

Looks like five clubs are seeking compensation.

Anyway, the promoted teams this year have been brutal - they’ll be fine.

I liked Jonathan Wilson`s comment in his report in the Guardian on Manchester United`s opening goal at Goodison yesterday :-

`Within three minutes Alejandro Garnacho had thrashed a bicycle kick into the top corner: it’s been a while since anyone at Goodison had such control of their overheads.`
