 Rochdale

Given our history at Dunfermline, I`m always drawn to stories about clubs on the brink of going out of existence.

Rochdale are in that category, despite going down the fan-owned route a few years ago. They are now desperately trying to find a buyer otherwise administration and possible liquidation are on the cards.

Meanwhile, a few miles down the road, City and United wouldn`t even notice if the £2m required to save Rochdale fell out of their back pocket.

Bury and Macclesfield have already gone under in the area, and next door to Rochdale, EPL founder members Oldham Athletic have tumbled out of the leagues and could soon be in trouble too if they don`t get back. It`s not just in Scotland that big clubs suck the life out of smaller clubs round about them.

That`s very sad, Stanza. Small clubs like Rochdale are the very life blood of the game. It`s a great pity that the bigger clubs don`t appear to recognise this. This is particularly true in Scotland, where essentially, we have two big clubs and 40 small ones.

The big clubs should really do all they can to help the smaller ones, instead of screwing them into the ground when it comes to sponsorship monies. Football clubs are not supermarkets and corner shops, so they should be encouraging competition, not trying to eliminate it.

We can both go back to a time when gate money was shared, making it a far more level playing field. Yes, Celtic and Rangers still tended to dominate, but occasionally, the provincial sides would win a League Championship or a Cup. Now we have to go back some 40 years to find when the champions came from outside of Glasgow.

Not your average Sunday League player.

Was down in rochdale few years back, seen a boozer that looked busy, headed in for a drink before the game. Lounge area packed with city tops, bar area packed with united tops to watch them play each other on TV whilst there were half a dozen rochdale fans next to the pool table for the game being played 5mins walk along the road.

It`s not City/United fault these clubs have spent money they couldnt afford so bailing them out.

It happens everywhere I guarantee you can take a stroll up the town on Saturday at 2pm a and you`ll see Celtic and rangers tops and not 1 pars top.

I don`t think th answer is asking bigger club to bail out the smaller ones. Rochdale wasn`t run properly and unfortunately now it`s paying the price. We were the same.

c'mon the pars
