Hardly any playing out from the back kicking up the park at every opportunity I think this put us on the offensive ,This surely was the tactic from the management.

He nearly always boots it to his let touchline. No surprise, everyone queuing up like outside a chippy on Friday night

Pitch was a tattie field, not the conditions for passing around the back

Punt up the pitch is 50/50 but gets it out your half and can result in a quick attack. The issue we`ve had is not getting up the pitch so it`s probably better to do that than play out from the back.

The sad fact is that many defenders in this league struggle to play out successfully from the back, especially when their opponents press them deep in their own half. It`s perfectly understandable. If they lose possession, their team might concede.
Lumping the ball up the park is hardly classy, aesthetic football, but it can get team out and relieve the pressure, as well as provide an opportunity to attack.

‘Lumping the ball up the park is hardly classy, aesthetic football’
Two completely irrelevant things when deciding tactical decisions. It’s doesn’t matter, and will never matter how people like how your tactics look, it only matters how effective they are to get a result

We were successful under Jimmy calderwood when we punted long balls so on the basis that our pitch isn’t too clever then long ball works and jakusiak was tremendous at challenging and chasing 50/50 balls

You watched 5 seasons of Calderwood and thought we were a long ball team?
We could mix it up on occasion but that was hardly his preferred style.

I love it when we go sell Kevin Nisbet,
He's gonna pay for everyone this season.

Marco Ruitenbeek had a magnificent throw. He could pick out a player on the halfway line and throw it to his feet.

What part of my post stated that it was his preferred style. Read my words again and reflect before jumping to conclusions ….. we played long ball and was successful……what part of this is inaccurate?

Watched Mehmet in the warm up on Friday he shanked 4 straight kicks into the stand. I`m happy we aren`t playing it out from the back that has cost us on more than 1 occasion.
c'mon the pars

I just thought it odd that someone would go back to 20+ years, to the manager who had us playing the best football since the 1960s, and associate it in any way with us playing long balls.
Especially when there was another successful manager, just before him, who was known fir being more direct.
