 In Paisley, football is sinful

I came across this bizarre little feature on YouTube. It was from Nationwide in 1972. You can see that Extinction Rebellion got its ideas from Paisley Corporation.

Sunday 27Th Jan 1974 SCP Falkirk 2 - 2 Dunfermline

9500 were packed into Brockville for the game. The Church had enforced an injunction where by the clubs could not charge an entrance fee. They got round this by adding the entrance fee onto the match program. Outside the ground there were several ministers/pastors waving bibles preaching to all that we would burn in hell for attending this event. As a youngster I had to be reassured that Sunday football was okay & the fiery pit only applied to Falkirk supporters!

Great fun & I think we scored direct from a corner…….

I was at the game at Brockville. It was heaving. Great game.
We won the replay played on a Tuesday lunchtime, 1 nil. There was a power restriction and we couldn`t use the floodlights

I looked for my pet in all the books on animals and birds and then I found it in the Book of Revelations.Marty Feldman
