My earliest footballing memory is of Bert Paton`s team and that promotion in 95 after the death of Norrie and Mandy.

Bert and Dicks teams were by far the best to watch. Not so much skillful but every player gave everything for the cause.

I`m sure there were at least 2 posters who incorporated Bert`s name in their username. One was Bertiewasthebest, but I can`t remember the other. One of them regularly brought up "that" goal every time Bert`s name was mentioned....
It was during a 6-0 win v Raith on Jan 1st, 1968. Bert and Shuggie Robertson each scored a hat trick, but one of Bert`s goals was a slwed down version of Maradona`s 2nd v England, at Mexico `86. He picked the ball up just inside his own half. Snow was falling on a hard pitch, but Bert was as sure-footed as any mountain goat as he slalomed his way past player after player at fast walking pace before rounding the goalkeeper and rolling the ball between two lunging defenders on the goal line.
Each time that goal was described by that poster, the number of players Bert had beaten increased. It started at 7 or 8, which might have been a conservative estimate and got up to around 15. 😀 Bert did beat a lot of players to score that goal, some of them more than once as they came back for a second go before slithering on their @rse again.....
