 Fans` group meeting
Topic Originator: wee eck

As mentioned on the `Club update` thread there was a Fans` group meeting last night and there is a very comprehensive account of it on the East End Bounce forum. Thomas Meggle and Drew Main were the club representatives in attendance. There`s a lot to digest there.

It is good to hear that Thomas Meggle presented well last night. Hopefully, we will see more of "The Germans" as the season progresses.

Wish folk would stop referring to the owners as The Germans especially in inverted commas.

I wasn`t just talking about your post. It`s all over social media constantly. No need for the abuse btw so calm yourself.

"Anyone able to provide a short summary on here?"

Think this covers most points:

Supporters group meeting

Attended by Drew Main and Thomas Meggle

Comms - more recent videos etc and clips on socials. Update about new board members coming soon.

Press comments about not being able to compete were taken out of context and they are quite angry at the Courier for the way they reported it. Was reported that Ayr had offered Ashcroft 1700 a week to join but that wouldn`t fit with our.wage structure.

Squad - want to to add GK and defender by league cup and start of season and then use loan market after that.

Wotherspoon regretted not signing last season. He and Kane were top targets. Kane expected to help with McCann and Sutherland`s development, Wotherspoon with Todd and Tod`s.

No player has release clause in contract now as Meggle doesn`t really agree with them.

Fnancial - Club would like big cup run or drawn against big team but they have not budgeted for a cup run. Prize money increases in Challenge Cup mean we may take that more seriously.

No season long targets of winning/challenging/play offs but rather smaller short term targets of win more games, score more goals (50), concede fewer (30), play more youth players is appropriate (difficult in a 10 team league)

Plan on longer contracts to avoid player churn at end of every year, and the scramble to assemble a squad.

We have been looking further afield for transfers ie Ireland, Wales, lower league England.

More info to come about Rosyth but need to temper fans expectations etc. Women`s team partially based there and at East End.

Things in and around stadium - catering still Stephens, TV screens being looked at, seagull problem noted and will be looked into.

Also looking at "code of conduct" (might not end up.being called that) for whole club from top to bottom. Behaviour of some on NW stand concern, throwing stuff, pitch invasions etc - how to police it

Note: this is my interpretation based on stuff that is already in the public domain pulled from 2 or 3 different places; I wasn`t there but just summarising as Dave had requested.

Just to add to that, please don’t get hung up on the ‘code of conduct’ thing being linked to behavior, that is only a very small part of it and they were keen to point out, it’s not a list of rules and regulations.

As Kelty said, that is a working title, and my perception was it was more like a charter or constitution, basically something that everyone from the board to the players, staff, fans, can all have a part in to decide what we want the club to be all about. What standards do we want to live and compete by, what do we want the club identity to be? Things like social inclusion, community etc

There is going to be a separate working group to look into that and it is very much at the early stage of a work in progress.

Re the "Code of Conduct" or whatever it is finally christened.

This was mentioned last night, but I`m not sure if it was picked up - the Supporters Charter drawn up ten years or so ago is still on the official website:
https://dafc.co.uk/supporters-charter/

The world and the club have moved on a bit since then, but a lot of the existing Charter still seems as though it could be relevant to what is being considered.

"Squad - want to to add GK and defender by league cup and start of season and then use loan market after that"

extra part to that according to post on pie and bovril which is keeping an eye on the market and if the right player is available permanently they will try for those too

It`s scary if Ayr offered Ashcroft £1700 a week - and he ended up at Partick!

Cheers folks 👍🏻 not too surprising wee eck - Partick bigger team and better squad, maybe not focussed on the money

Thanks Digs

A very comprehensive summary. A great deal of positives in there about the direction of the club and short/long term plans.

It seems the Bosrd are tempering our expectations - no “boom or bust”, just steady, measured progress aiming to be long term sustainable. I’m tired of the accusation of the Pars as a yo-yo club. We’ll need to be a bit more patient for that Premier League spot!

Someone said the same to me in a group chat last night Stanza. Probably worth a look even if it’s just as a template.
