It just says short term. Jan or end of season but I’d be guessing.

Hopefully he’s here to challenge Mehmet and not warm the bench. Sounds like he’s had a decent youth career - playing for Northern Ireland U19s. Be disappointing not to see him get a chance especially if Mehmet keeps making errors.

The 19-year-old was freed by the Scottish champions at the end of last season and has joined the Pars on an agreement expected to be around a month long.

"It is understood a more permanent option between the sticks is still on the agenda for Dunfermline, who are keen to secure someone capable of pushing number one Deniz Mehmet"

(Courier)

"James revealed that the club is considering four potential goalkeeper options, with hopes of finalising a loan deal before the Livingston match. “Hopefully we’ll get something arranged or something agreed,” "

(official site)

he will be here until another keeper is signed then leave.

He`s no here to seriously challenge Mehmet, he`s a number on the bench, unless Mehmet gets really bad.

If the Courier`s right he`s been signed to give us time to find a more experienced keeper to challenge Mehmet. That seems a reasonable course of action in the circumstances.

How bad does anyone want Mehmet to get? He should be benched for the goals conceded and confusion he causes.

"There’s a selection of four we’ve got. We’ve spoken to a club about one or two. There’s one away on pre-season as well, which causes a problem in itself, because he won’t be back for another week to ten days. That rules that one out at the minute, but hopefully by the Livingston game we’ve got someone in."

This is what is worrying me. It’s got Masterton vibes all over it. Why is the money not being properly invested in the first team? Everything stems from the first team. If the first team is awful and terrible to watch everything then is highlighted.

It’ll all eventually come to a head.

Needed a backup asap and to have him on a short term deal till we find someone to challenge Mehmet makes sense.
p*** poor management not to have anyone in already but given how bad we are at recruitment, nobody should be surprised.

I don`t think you can say this has `Masterton vibes all over it".....under Masterton we must have had about 30 Premier league quality players in the squad. The worry there was how it was being paid for. At the moment, we have amazing crowds to pay for a competitive first team but we aren`t seeing it invested. Totally different situation.

Anyway, good chance for the lad to impress in training and maybe get a deal if he does well

It is a worry that we can`t seem to attract a keeper and have to sign a guy to fill a jersey. Over 3k season tickets sold a consistent stream from the club lifeline where is the money going? These investors and all the other charlatans on the board have some explaining to do.

There are loads of things a football club has to spend money on besides players` wages. The cost of power to a stadium like EEP must be pretty hefty and they suffer inflation just like the rest of us. A lot of cash must have gone into Rosyth too. But still we get this simplistic argument that (relatively) big crowds should mean big signings despite the board explaining that was never their strategy.

Rosyth was virtually all funded by SFA/FC grants. Not a lot of “cash” went anywhere near it.

Pretty sure energy bills will be the main one eck electricity is supposedly 20k a month would imagine gas will be a shade more expensive so we could be close to 500k a year mibby more on energy alone that’s before you factor in player and staff wages 3k season tickets and what ever the lifeline is worth probably won’t even come close to making a dent in those sorts of expenses

But getting relegated which is more likely considering the current squad is considerably worse than the one who limped to safety last season will cost us more. We can`t keep hiding behind the rosyth excuse which as the club admitted to was mostly built with grants etc.

I`d be interested to know the figure for grants. I don`t remember seeing any mention of them in the accounts to 31 May 2023 when we lost £1m. At that point the investors had put in £1m themselves and they may have invested more subsequently so it seems unlikely Rosyth was financed mainly by grants.

The fact is it is extremely expensive to run a full-time football club, even in the Scottish Championship. All the clubs who seem to be spending most on players` contracts are supplementing their commercial income from outside sources. What happens if it doesn`t pay off? Do they keep on pumping money in until they achieve promotion? Only two at most can achieve it each season.

I don`t think anyone is expecting a promotion. But going by what last season and the handful of games this season has taught us is we are not good enough at this level. The squad this year is considerably worse than last as the left back we signed didn`t look up to much at home against a side that finished 7th in league 2 last year.

We need to stay in this division if you take Falkirk for an example got relegated and stayed in the seaside league for years costing them fortunes year on year. We need to improve the squad currently we aren`t good enough to stay in the division.

So far we have replaced Allan with Wotherspoon and Jakubiak with Kane. I would say they are both improvements. It`s a bit early to judge the young left back, having played only two competitive games. Nobody played to their capabilities against Forfar. We are still looking for a goalie who hopefully will be an upgrade on Little and someone to replace Fenton. If the injury situation this season improves by even 50% we should have more players available for selection than last year so overall I don`t think the squad is weaker.

Exactly this. Same for every club but at least they are seeing strengthening of their first team. Fans aren’t asking for a league winning side but at least an attempt of the playoffs. Maybe some decent attacking football. Maybe win more home games than you lose. The club can’t keep taking fans for granted.

Kane was part of last seasons squad.

So We haven`t replaced, jakubiak, MFW, MWH, Summers or moffat. The playing squad is alot weaker at the moment. And from a training point of view training up against MFW and MWH as a forward player would`ve been alot more beneficial than training against one of the youth players.

The squad is stronger than it was this time last season. There`s no argument to the contrary.

Most clubs in the division strengthen over the course of the season as the loan market opens up.

MFW and MWH were loanees brought in to help mitigate the injury crisis. They were unlikely to become permanent signings after Comrie and our centre backs regained fitness. Kane came in to cover for Wighton. He is now a signed player. Wighton remains but Jakubiak has gone.

As I recall, Kane, Benjamin, MFW and MWH were brought in on loan because of the injuries we had.
Kane seems to have been signed in place of Jakubiak and, while I would have been delighted to keep MFW, the defenders weren`t required once the injured players recovered. I`ve no doubt that some of the other loanees will be replaced by other loans in time.
I think we`ve got a pretty good defence when most are fit but Todd will be a loss for a while and we need to create much more to give the strikers a chance.

Realistically we`re always going to going with a `senior` goalie and a backup / youngster given finances and everything else.

Even back when Gill was the #2 and there was a lot of people wanting him to be given a chance and it never really happened, dare i say in hindsight that`s justified now in the manager(s) thinking given the level he`s playing at now.

Hard as it sounds but i`d imagine the new GK will be there for emergencies and maybe a token outing in the challenge cup unless anything untoward happens to Mehmet and then someone else would come in as a #1 temporarily like with Sharp last season.

I understand how and why these players became part of our squad last season. But the squad which finished last season was alot stronger than the squad which starts this season.

And with that in mind last seasons squad struggled in the last 5 games of the season.

How the board think this squad will compete is beyond me.

Mehmet will be no1 this season. We have **** all money to have 2 senior goalies and given it looked like he was away when his initial deal ended after league 1 season then it turned and he was given a 3 year deal it will be decent money I would imagine. Agent played a blinder there.

It is foolhardy to suggest we will build a squad as the season progresses. We have some tough opening fixtures and a bad start could leave us languishing at the bottom and facing an uphill battle. It is then even more difficult to attract players.

There are 19 players in the first team squad. Nobody is talking about building a squad during the season - more adding two or three to it as the opportunity arises.

I don`t think any club in our league has made their last signing for the season.

At this rate we are going to be going into the season with a bare thin squad.

A couple of injuries and we are in the same position as last season.

After what we experienced last season you’d expect a healthier looking squad.

There is time left in the window but if the owners are looking for anymore it’s going to be young inexperienced players on loan to fill the gaps.

I`ll be quite happy if we only suffer `a couple of injuries`. I think we`ll be able to cope with that. Last year`s injuries were unprecedented and included some of our key players. It`s difficult for a club our size to plan for that. We`re still looking for an experienced goalie and cover at left back/wing back. I think that will give us a squad capable of dealing with the normal ups and downs of professional football.

I`m pretty sure the cost drivers mentioned above will be similar for some of the other teams in the championship, yet they are still doing a better job at strengthening their squads.

Aye at 200 quid per week less than a players agent will demand from us because they think we will be daft enough to pay it Ashcrofts agent wanted 1.3k per week off us I’m sure it was yet partick have hoovered him up for a grand week should the board really allow its self to be swindled by players agents because clearly it looks to me like they are ripping the **** because of who we are a fully fit 3 year younger lee Ashcroft wouldn’t even be worth 1.3k a week

27 year old Alex Jakubiak signed in September last year.

I love it when we go sell Kevin Nisbet,
He's gonna pay for everyone this season.

Best of luck to the young lad , i hope it turns out well for him signing for a club that is fast becoming the laughing stock of Scottish football , Max Little has been gone since the season ended yet we are three games in before we have a replacement in for him and on a month contract , you could hardly make this up

Maybe these agents come on here and read that, because we have above average crowds, we should have a huge pot of cash available to invest in players` wages so they adjust their demands accordingly! Thomas Meggle did say I think that agents ask different clubs for different wages, depending on what they think they can get away with.

"a consistent stream from the club lifeline where is the money going?"

it was changed a couple of years ago to go to towards the academy.

Partick, Raith, Airdrie and Ayr are signing players to try to win this league. We look like we will only sign players if we are in relegation trouble.

Really, you think that`s where agents get info ?
All sporting agents know players wages and clubs income and how to get the best for their client
They don`t need to read it anywhere publicly.....

I can understand them knowing players` wages because that`s their job but not so sure about clubs` income. Maybe they just make it up like some folk on here.

I don`t post on here much due to the petty squabbles, snide remarks, an all consuming negativity (somewhat understandable I suppose), and the overwhelming amount of idiotic posts. It`s a pretty embarrassing forum.

I`m posting today to stick up for Buffy, not because I still harbor hopes that Sarah Michelle Gellar will seek me out for romantic endeavours. I read her comment that all the other little girls are whining about, and I just don`t get it. It was clearly a very tame tongue in cheek comment that merits no further conversation.

I firmly believe that I`m a decent person that has a zero tolerance policy against all kinds of bigotry, `isms and `ists. I took no offence whatsoever at the aforementioned comment because their was nothing offensive about it.

I can`t remember the poster, but someone on here used to have (or still has,I don`t know) a video of an attractive woman bouncing her breasts. I found this very distasteful and nobody batted an eyelid about.

This forum also allowed someone who was proven to be racist trash by the law to continue posting on it, instead of banning him which in my eyes was only option. I hope the football club still refuses him entry.

I`ll come and look at this thread again in a day or two, just to look at the moronic vitriol that spews forth my way. Thankfully I don`t give 2 poops about keyboard warriors.

You could`ve stuck up for buffy without the general attacks on the forum and it`s members.

Although it shows some will argue about anything on here the poster has a point. If that post came from a male about a female there would be a different narrative so surely it has to work both ways. In fairness I think there are more worrying matters to focus on than a post from the past.

Absolutely shambolic. Not knowing basic player registration rules is laughable.

Saturday 10th August, fans need to let their frustrations be known either before or post match.

There`s no excuse for not knowing the rules but, if you can`t play a trialist in a competitive game and clubs can only sign players on a deal to the next transfer window, does that not limit the opportunities for young players to get a contract? It`s a bit of a risk signing a youngster for six months without getting to see him in a proper game. Can you play trialists in reserve games?
