A 24-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with being in possession of a lit pyrotechnic inside East End Park during the Dunfermline v Falkirk match on Saturday, 10 August, 2024.
He was released on an undertaking to appear before Dunfermline Sheriff Court at a later date.
A 15-year-old male was also charged in connection with being in possession of a lit pyrotechnic within the grounds and will be the subject of a report to the Youth Justice Assessor.
A further male aged 14 was charged in connection with being in possession of an unlit pyrotechnic a short distance from the ground prior to kick off. He will be the subject of a report to the Youth Justice Assessor.
Inspector Neil McGurk said: "Taking pyrotechnics into a sporting stadium is a criminal offence. I`d ask people to think of the impact it could have on those around you, particularly people with medical conditions, young children and elderly.
"We will continue to work in partnership with football clubs to prevent fans from taking pyrotechnics into grounds and to pursue those who put other fans` safety at risk.
“During the match a coin was also thrown from the northwest section of the stadium, striking the assistant referee. Thankfully he was not seriously injured but this type of reckless behaviour will not be tolerated and we are working closely with the club to identify the person responsible.

Surely the police could make an arrest for impersonating a professional footballer. I can think of at least 11 suspects

It`s good to see this being stamped down on but why don`t we ever hear about Billy/John Paul getting done for singing their bile at Ibrox/Hampden and Celtic Park?

Because its easier to arrest 1/2 troublemakers than it is to arrest 40,000 of them

A match official hit by a coin is not good news for the club.
Likewise the spectator entering the pitch area.

He has a point we are clearly skint and no doubt we will have several fines to pay because of the highlighted behavior.

Ok hard man……the section has repeatedly caused problems for the club with their behaviour. They need dealt with before they end up getting us point deductions.

Shutting the section would not solve the problem as they would just move to other areas of the stadium

I like my seat in the NW. people around are nice and friendly and most importantly funny when times are hard.
I also get a great view of the game.
Why would I have to relocate my seat because of a minority.
I expect the club to give bans to the offenders who throw stuff on the field and also those who enter the field of play when they are found guilty of the offences.

Fines from who? the sfa? the spfl? need strict liability in place for that to happen mate and while they both dance to the tune of the ugly sisters it won’t happen and we certainly won’t be fined by the police because the club has committed no offence it will be banning orders for the offenders at most

like when the halfway line section closed and issues moved to the corner section.

Look at 07:40, no NW stand for this game.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqK9_QOlIbA
If the NW was shut we might as well fold now, deal with the one or two trouble makers and let the rest of the lads continue bring the atmosphere to what at the moment is a turgid matchday experience

It was, but only for 11 days, ie until we played our next home game.

I was on the train after the game, hundreds of them singing, banging on the roof. The transport police got on at one of the stops.
The highlight of my day was watching a Falkirk fan getting dragged off at Haymarket, and nicked!

Don`t need strict liability to get fined, back oh the net - surely you know that? Strict liability rules are about points deductions, section or stadium closures, etc. Clubs have been, and will continue to be fined for pitch incursions, objects thrown at players and officials, etc.

But but but ...... how dare you stop their fun!!
Same old, same old. We`re always told it`s a minority but it happens time & time again especially when there`s a big crowd / the NW is sold out.
How do you get it through their thick heads not to bring pyros or chuck stuff on the park when its been repeatedly stated by the club AND fellow fans?!
Closing the stand only brings out their victim mentality rather than actually solving the issue.
COME ON YE PARS!
