On a serious note, I`m so glad they gave the new goalie a chance straight away. If he`s competent that could transform the team as I believe that confidence stems from having belief in your goalie.

Chances wise it`s pretty even. Nathan Austin up front is always a handful but he`s been kept pretty quiet.
We created a couple of really good chances down the left early on that should`ve made the keeper work harder.
Still really slow moving the ball about.

Fairly even game, end to end at times with loads of slow plodding stuff in between. Both teams have had chances where they`ve missed the target or forced a basic save. Most of our good stuff has come down the left, McCann has causes them all sorts of problems without that final pass or shot. Cooper has also looked lively. Ritchie-Hosler and Kane on the other hand have been poor.
Just as I type McCann hits the angle of post and bar with a long range dipper and Comrie shows great composure to get the ball out his feet and score from a tight angle.

Comfortable win really, had some really good chances first half but failed to materialise, was only a matter of time before we scored in the second half if we kept going.
Cooper, Otoo, Hamilton and McCann main standouts for me.
KRH I thought struggled to make a big impact.
Hoping the W spurs us on for a huge game on Friday.

Agree with all of the above. Chalmers also was better second half, some good set piece deliveries. Kane and KRH struggled. We definitely need at least one other wide forward, especially if Cooper is not going to be used there. Apart from KRH and McCann, there isn`t anyone who is suited to playing out there, don`t think Taylor Sutherland is too comfortable out wide either.

FFS, we make some improvements to the squad, then immediately get a draw against the possible title favourites, and convincingly defeat an in form team (albeit from a lower division) and you still have to have a swipe.

I think that Cooper offers us something different, seems to get himself into decent positions. He could have a couple of goals already, whether the reason he hasn’t is lack of quality or lack of sharpness we’ll see eventually, but promising so far.
Kane wasn’t in the game at all, but another 60mins in the legs - hoping he springs to life next Friday when it really matters. McCann and Cooper were the main threat today.
Also today was the first time I’ve seen Andy Tod a threat in the box like his old man (in the first team anyway). He looked lively.
2nd half an improvement on the 1st…and much better than the Forfar game.
Hopefully this upward tangent continues against Raith on Friday. We have to be due a result against them.

That was just what we needed after the good performance against Ayr. EF were no pushovers and presented a real physical challenge. We dealt with it well and got our reward for some decent football in the second half. Otoo showed some genuine touches of class today. Sam Young did well, especially after picking up an early booking.

Pleasing performance in the 2nd half after a fairly dull first period, some decent attacking moves once the team got a bit of confidence in them and probably should`ve won by a couple more.
Delighted for McCann who I thought was excellent and absolutely terrorised that left hand side all game, and the fans gave him a great applause when he came off. Comrie was back to his usual consistent self when played as just a normal fullback where he`s comfortable.
I think Oluwayemi is a definite upgrade on Mehmet and Cooper adds something a little different to what we have. Good mention for Sam Young as well who adapted to Austin as the game went on and strolled it in the 2nd half.

It seems like years since we won a knock-out cup-tie so that was pleasing, especially away at a team that seemed in decent form and which had beaten us pre-season.
After a fairly level first half we scored a couple of quick goals and were pretty comfortable. It was like the halcyon days of Division One; we should probably have scored a couple more though (and although the haar rolled in late on the game thankfully was never in doubt).
In previous years we’ve given the youngsters a run-out in this trophy; not so much yesterday, although given Jake was playing for Cowdenbeath, Freddie Rowe was wearing the number 4 shirt for St Andrews and presumably Hoggan was with Gala (not sure what’s happened to McLeod) we didn’t really have the opportunity.
So it was probably our strongest available XI, with Otoo replacing Ngwenya at LB and Chalmers coming in to the middle (is that over 100 appearances now?– no goals though). I might have been tempted to give Mehmet a game but it’s probably wise to give Tobi some more time to get up to speed.
I prefer the 4-2-3-1 – we seem to be using our players in their natural positions more – and we’re getting the ball forward much more quickly. We also seemed more willing to shoot which is encouraging. My quibbles would be that Kane still seems a little isolated (I assume Cooper is meant to get forward to help) and that we didn’t test the keeper enough – shots tended to be off-target or straight at him. I hope we can improve in both areas.
I thought Comrie took his goal very well – he hasn’t scored for a while and has passed up a bunch of clear opportunities in that time, looking like a startled rabbit when in a scoring position but he was very composed, taking the ball past the defender before passing it in the far corner. Not sure why he wasn’t asked about this during the interview. Whilst McCann deserved his goal – he was unlucky to hit the bar and had a good header that went narrowly past - I was surprised his free-kick found the net as it didn’t’ seem that powerfully hit. He played well though, won a lot of headers; perhaps more should have been made of them.
Hamilton impressed with his ball winning and defensive understanding; two years ago he seemed to be the one sacrificed any time McPake wanted to make a change, now he seems a key player. Young had another decent game – one run forward reminded me of Norrie; I’m sure McPake must have thought about putting Breen on after Sam, having been carded early on, had been penalised again, but he kept his head which is an important lesson learned. Tod is probably overdue a goal – was a bit unlucky a couple of times, and it was good to see his kid brother on the bench.
All in all it was almost enjoyable…

Maybe it was 9th December 1978 when we lost 2-1 or 31st December 1983 when we got played off the park 3-1? I was at the latter and remember it being a particularly dismal day, though that was more to do with the performance than the weather.
I miss the old Bayview but was pleasantly surprised by how nice the new one was when we played them in a League Cup tie a few years back. It’s a bit like Dumbarton though … why not put a white fence round the pitch and let people stand to watch the match like they do at any junior ground.
