James Mcpake, retain at least some self respect and leave the club taking Dave Mackay with you.
Should have done the same at Dundee but you didn`t they got relegated & you were able to blame the new incumbent, but everyone knew where the real blame lay.
Hopefully then we will get a new manager bounce working with the missfits and timid squad you leave behind.

If you are earning a fortune whilst doing a sh|te job under no threat, why would you leave? He`s only going to get the bullet once this deal is done and he will run his contract until then.

Looks like a beaten man talks like a beaten man , gives no incentive to the team or the brilliant support we have , just go and take your “ coaching squad “ ???? With you.

Yup, will hang around like a bad smell so at his next interview he can state he was doing well but new owners wanted to take the club in a different direction.

The team and this seasons performances epitomise mcpakes current approach down to a tee. Absolutely phoning it in.

Listened to the Open Goal “Billy Davis” interview podcast the other day, can’t believe he is not involved in the game. He needs a chance, and has remained current to get that chance, wouldn’t actually mind seeing it being here actually (some player back in the day).

For anyone who has not listened, you might be surprised

Also talks really well on Walking Down The Halbeath Road podcast by the former players association with Mikey.

Seemed a bit like a paid advertisement to be honest but it was decent. Even though they totally ignored his time with us.

There has to be something that`s had him blackballed - for lack of a better term - for all this time. Generally a success in all his stints at Championship clubs yet nobody has touched him for 10+ years.....

Wonder if Billy still has decent contacts in the game given how long he’s been on the sidelines?

If he does that would be a coop for us, if he doesn’t then we’ve just had a manager who only has a few pals in the game and the recruitment has been shocking.

Would you walk if you had a mortgage to pay and a family to support? I’m not defending the dire performances and results but at the end of the day it’s his job and , though I think his time is up, I understand why he’s hanging on in till he’s pushed.
The club can’t afford to sack him and he can’t afford to walk away.

Not sure on Mcpakes contract , does it end 2025, or a rolling contract , if it is done in 2025 he should be gone irrespective of our position at the end of the season .

Not sure about friends in the game but said on WDTHR that he was very into video analysis, has a room set up at home and still does it as a bit of a hobby. Can`t remember if he said he did bits for contacts in the game as well or not.

3 year contract at this level is nuts if true. Absolute incompetence from the board but that`s not surprising given their track record

I was happy we were offering longer contracts in an effort to effort better players but by god every 3 year deal we’ve given has been an unmitigated disaster.

A large number of the 2 year deals have been the same too.

TBH there’s not a player in this squad your bothered about keeping for next season.

When he signed that three year deal I don`t think many people on here thought it was a bad bit of business, on the back of a league win.

I don`t think he should quit his job, why should he, he`s got a contract, he`ll have bills to pay and a family to support. It`s not as if he`s some millionaire ex pro.

If he can hang on a couple of months he might get a good pay off from the new owners.

I also don`t see that he will be unemployable in the future. He`s still young, he`s got 2 promotions under his belt. He can point to last years unprecedented injury crisis and the lack of backing from the board this year. He can also evidence how he has brought through young players like Lyall Cameron and Finley Robertson at Dundee and Todd, Sutherland and Young here. He will really need to sell himself at an interview though.

Right now, I would like to see him show a bit more fight and enthusiasm, he likely knows his card is marked but I`d like to see him come out fighting. What`s he got to lose

I don`t think the 3 year deal for James McPake was well publicised. I certainly didn`t pick up on it. When it is mentioned on here there is often surprise at its length (as above).

There is obviously nothing underhand going on, there would be no reason to cover it up, but it does seem like a lot of people missed it.

Easy to say after the fact but I was concerned by our style of play during the league one season and the length of this deal would have concerned me.

I think that`s the fundamental problem, he hasn`t really shown much energy at all, a bit like the team.

It was reported in the Press and the Courier. Fair to say it made sense when it was handed out but less so now. We expected to be okay off contenders last year yet skirted with relegation. It appears to be the same story this season.

Otoo is on a 3 year deal but is another that struggling to make any impact on games.

If any scouts were watching him this season what would they have seen to suggest he’s capable at a higher level.

However he is one who’s had to put up a different midfield partners every single half he players and none of them have been up to it.

Let`s not get deflected from the core issue here and targeting the team. It`s all on McPake and his coaches.
I believe that we have a decent set of players who are all more than capable of delivering in this league. However, they are led by a donkey who has not an ounce of tactical knowledge nor motivational ability.
When he goes, we will improve

Agreed but McPake needs to stop moving him around and changing his partners etc. got to give him a set role and position. He didn’t have a good game on Saturday mind you.

No he didn’t but at his age they aren’t going to be always good games. Agree a bit more settled position would benefit him.

Agreed Dave......could say the same for Hamilton as well although that may be enforced on him soon with the amount of silly bookings he racks up.

If McPake is doing video analysis I wonder what games he is watching?? With the continual decline in our away performances maybe he needs to just play his Xbox 😠.
