We have had some very decent performances and results against the top teams since McPake left.
To me, as an optimist, this indicates we might start taking points from the teams around us, and climb the table a bit. I think we will finish above the relegation play off spot.

It`s looking better to be fair but I`d still like to see the sale of the club over the line, the new manager issue settled and hopefully a couple of players in.
I don`t wanna go down like disco.

Agreed but we need to start putting together a string of victories to get ourselves out the danger zone. I can’t remember the last time we won two in a row. All the teams above us have two games in hand and are capable of getting results. Worst case, if we do finish 9th I’d be surprised if we lose to any league one teams in the playoffs. Hopefully we don’t need to worry about that!

For me Ayr gave us a sense of perspective last night. They were well organised with a game plan and solid.
I felt we ran out of ideas and our subs are not good enough to change the game.
Raith are getting better I think, Morton have a knack of beating teams when you don’t expect it. So for me it’s us against Hamilton.
Would be really worried about the playoffs. We couldn’t beat Cove or Forfar earlier in the season and only marginally beat Edinburgh and Kelty.
So for me we need to catch Hamilton and quickly! Just getting out of the bottom 2 would be a psychological boost.

I don`t want to even think about the play offs but it`s safe to say we`re a bit better than we were against Cove and Forfar.

I agree with you. However we weren’t inspirational against Edinburgh or KH. If you look at EKB beating Ayr then anything can happen no matter if you are the better side. I’m just hoping we avoid 2nd bottom 🥹.

I’m with PARrot on this. I wouldn’t go as far as to say chalk and cheese between pre and post JMcP but definitely more confidence in the team and much more enjoyable to watch.
Very difficult to draw comparison now with performances against L1/2 sides from early in the season; both they and we have changed. Stenny going well so perhaps we’ll have a better idea after Saturday.
Here’s hoping all the ownership and manager issues sorted soon.

Don`t think we played all that well vs Falkirk, but we got a good result.
We played really well against Partick and deserved the win.
Last night was a poor result and ok performance.
Have we improved?
Maybe...the 4 points out of 9 vs those teams is a ok return considering our position but I don`t think we`ve turned a corner based off of those results and performances.
We need the new owners and management in so we can try and get some better quality into the squad.
We are lacking in so many areas of the squad and one off performances like the Partick/Raith/Dundee Utd(last season) every few months gives everyone a bit of false hope only for this group of players to go back to the usual results / performances.
Hopefully we can bounce back and get a win against Stenny on Saturday and go on a good run in the cup however which might give the new manager some funds to work with.

This pretty much sums up my thoughts as well.

The performances v Ayr, Raith and Morton away were we barely mustered an attack on goal
Vs
The last 3 games.
Aye I`d say we`ve improved. That`s not to say we don`t need better players.

Was thinking I’ll need to resurrect parrot’s knee jerk thread from last week about how mcpakes signing were not that that bad.
To get results against the better teams in this league all our players need to be at the top of thier game but this just doesn’t happen very often. Thistle could well be this seasons United game where it’s the best we’ll see as levels return to default.
As has been mentioned there’s been an improvement in effort and endeavour from our players which has helped us but doesn’t improve our players ability or decision making etc so we’re still going to struggle.
There is also an alarming drop off in quality when we lose one of the first 11. We absolutely need Kane to play most of the last 15 games and no other injuries or were struggling more than we are. Medube was a gamble that hasn’t paid off.
Hopefully tidser can get a few new faces in, in the next week, worst case they can help us in the playoffs. Fancy we’ll need to beat airdrie away just to keep pace as everyone else is beating them, feels like they are all big games now.
The post below replying to me is by one of .nets finest champions of mediocrity!
