Feels like we’re on a bit of a turn in the right direction now, with the takeover done, new manager in and promising signing, hopefully continues with three points today.
Interested to see that when Tidser came in there were a lot questioning his experience to get us out of the mess we’re currently in yet the posts on Young who has no experience at this level and has only mastered League 2 has been largely positive, great opportunity for him to step up etc.
Is Young really less of a risk as Tidser, is the risk of a young new manager vs a young new striker we’re hoping scores enough goals to get us out of a relegation scrap that far apart?
For what it’s worth I’m pleased with both signings and think they’ll both make a large positive contribution but thought it would be a worthwhile discussion point.

I`m with you on this one Berry, I think it`s an ambitious managerial appointment, identifying someone who along with his number 2 have demonstrated some ability and not resorting to the usual suspects currently out of work.
Similarly with Young, how refreshing it is to target an individual and succeed in getting him, rather than the usual lottery of picking from the pool of released players.
Hopefully both of them get off to a good start.

Inexperience is more dangerous the more responsibility the person has.
Consider this analogy, if a bricky has just passed his apprenticeship, he’s quite inexperienced, but he’s working with another ten brickies, has a foreman and a site manager working over him to provide direction, it’s generally fine.
If the site manager or architect is inexperienced and out of his depth the whole job can go to s**t quickly.
So yeah, Youngs inexperience is less of a concern than Tidsers.

You can’t drop Tidser either.

No point in pointing the finger at Tidser less than a fortnight after we hired him.
I’ve got one question, when was the last good transfer window for Dundermline Athletic?

It was tongue in cheek, if young is struggling you can take him out the team can’t do that with Tidser.
Probably the summer after we went down, we signed bene, KRh, Otoo and Hamilton all good enough to improve that team at that time.
Since then we’ve only signed Kane that I can think of who has made any improvement on what we already had and todays team confirms that. What was that, 4 windows ago not including this one which will be 5 if we don’t bring anyone else in.

Our last truly good championship transfer window was summer 2019/20.
Some notable signings:
Kevin Nisbet
Aaron Comrie
Kyle Turner
Josh Edwards
Ryan Dow
Euan Murray
Greg Kiltie on loan
Even in 20/21, McManus was alright for that year, Lewis Mayo on loan, Dom Thomas was sensational for a time. Whether it was Stevie Crawford or something else, the recruitment was generally impressive.
In the years that followed it`s been a total mixed bag of players, mostly on the poorer side especially Peter Grant`s summer.
McPake`s have been terrible "experienced" players outside of Benedictus and Otoo is the only one of the younger guys that has really kicked on from league 1 level. One more mention is McPake extending some players who are just not at the level, that`s made overturning a poor squad even more difficult.
