Looks a young team. Anyone know the goalscorers? I hope Sutherland got a boost from going out on loan and did well.

COWS update

SPFL Reserve League, Tuesday 28th January 2025, 2.00pm kick off at Lochinch Pavilion.

It was a mixture of youth and experience that John McLaughlan took to Lochinch for the Reserve League match against Queen’s Park.

First attempt of the afternoon came from Jake Sutherland, his opportunist shot in four minutes saved by the home keeper, Milosz Sliwinski. Three minutes on it was Jake who switched the ball out for brother Taylor out on the right and the 19 year old advanced to rifle in a shot that the keeper did well to hold.

Pars keeper Thomas Margetts fitst called into action was to thwart Tyrece McDonnell as he ran through on to the chance. Then in 22 minutes Queen’s Park went ahead. The Fifers lost possession in the middle of their own half, Connor Falls made ground before picking out McDonnell who cut in and executed a powerful shot that broke to FALLS. The no.9 clinically finished 1-0.

Jake Sutherland pulled an effort wide and next Freddie Rowe forced on to his weaker right foot sent the ball narrowly wide left. Dunfermline took the game to the Spiders but their defence held and denied an equaliser. In 40th minute T Sutherland and Hoggan built up play on the right and a fine cross to the back post was met by Tod but again Sliwinski saved for Queen’s.

Half time: Queen’s Park 1 Dunfermline 0

Dunfermline pressed from the restart with J Sutherland and Rowe having efforts defended before a 49th free kick provided the opportunity to level. Craig Clay went down in a challenge 25 yards out and from the setplay Jake SUTHERLAND placed the ball top right. 1-1.

A strong effort from Tod forced a 65th minute corner that was well worked short by T Sutherland and McLeod but Queen’s Park cut out the dangerous cross. After committing all the substitutes Dunfermline found a second goal when ROWE rose to head home a pinpointed Sam Fisher cross. 1-2

The victory was put out of doubt when Taylor Sutherland added the third with good individual play to carve out the opening to sink the ball left footed into the bottom right. 1-3

To complete the scoring a Jay Snoddy pass to Mark Beveridge on the right was squared for T SUTHERLAND to net again. 1-4

A fruitful afternoon for the Dunfermline reserves with an impressive final quarter from the younger players to polish off the day.

QUEENS PARK: Milosz Sliwinski: Ross McLean, Magnus Mackenzie, Archie Graham (Darryl Carrick HT), Jay McGarva, Michael Collie (c), Josiah Sowa (Leo Clark64), Aiden McGinlay (Alex Fairlie HT), Connor Falls (Godspower Oguma HT), Jamie Bradley, Tyrece McDonnell
SUBS: Zach Balfour (GK), William ThomsonSCORER: Falls (22)
YELLOW CARDS: McDonnell (54), Sowa (58), McGarva (61)

No, it`s the old Police grounds in Pollok Park that they now own/leasefor their training complex.

Cracking facility to be fair.

How come ? surely it`s better for him to get a regular game than sitting next to wighton all season.

Pars reserves are now second in the league one point behind Kilmarnock with three matches still to play. Their remaining fixtures are -

Tuesday 18 February v Dundee (A)
Tuesday 4 March v Kilmarnock (A)
Tuesday 11 March v Queen of the South (H)

It’s not a mistake Angus, Taylor started the game against Hamilton late last year and showed he was not quite there yet in terms of being ready for more than a few minutes off the bench.

A loan spell at a lower level is ideal. If Sutherland has the impact at that level that Young has had then next season looks a bit better for him.
