Scored again for Charlton tonight. He seems to be an ever present in their team.
Great to see him getting on at a much higher level than with us, which should encourage all our youngsters to make that extra effort. Always liked Josh atDunfermline.

Well taken goal and the fans love him! Some even saying he will go higher than them.
Wonder if we have a sell on? Also wonder if he will ever get a scotland call up

Indeed.
Even the English 3rd tier pays life changing money, (the 4th tier is not to be sniffed at) the steps towards that are doable, a club like the Pars is a great springboard.
All players are monitored nowadays, one 4 year contract at this level is substantial, you do not need to play for Man C to set yourself up.

We won’t have a sell on, we were not in a position to stipulate anything like that once his release fee was met.
Good to see him doing well, always solid for us.

Paparazzi, we still got relegated and we’re still rotten with Josh in the team, says more about the team than Josh though I would agree.
Glad to see him being successful, he was 1 who deserves it.

Despite his success we still get posts saying that anyone who was part of the squad that got us relegated should have been binned at the first opportunity.

Not the team that got us relegated but definitely a fair few , most folk know who they are.
One of the reasons McPake got some leeway in the 1st division win , in which most of the football was dire , was that he was lumbered with players on 2 year deals.

A lot of the team that finally got us relegated were Yogi`s loanees who had no real incentive to keep us up.

Polworth Lawless Ambrose Jacob. All decent loanees but we still got relegated....

All I`m saying is that relegation wasn`t entirely the fault of the players who were under contract. That`s the impression a lot of posters imply.

And here we are with mostly the same players battling at the bottom of the league. The manager didn`t help but a majority of these players will know this is their last full time gig.

I think it`s time for some facts.
According to COWS our present first-team squad, if you add Connor Young, is 25. Of these I reckon 5 were part of the squad who were relegated - Comrie (who played 30 league games), Breen (11 games), Chalmers (16 games), Wighton (14 games), Todd (22 games) and McCann (22 games). As I recall Wighton was loaned to Arbroath by Yogi for the second-half of the season and wasn`t involved in the run-in at all.
So to say that we are battling at the bottom of the league `with mostly the same players` is a bit of a stretch.

Okay I`ll change it to the same players alongside the recruitment hasn`t exactly made us a better team. The situation is still the same these players haven`t shown anything to suggest they are good enough for this division and it has been apparent since we got slapped about in the Betfred cup.
Let`s not talk about Mr wighton the "striker" with more yellow cards than goals this season.

No need the only fact is we are 9th and not looking like we are going to get any higher which I said in my original point so not really a climb down. The players aren`t good enough and our league position proves it. It was funny when we had one win and I was asked to retract my statement about us being favourites to go down which I didn`t as I don`t see the fight required to survive a relegation battle. I hope I`m wrong but after 22 games I see nothing that suggests we can build a run to get us to safety.

You couldn`t even remember where we finished last season so I`m not putting too much weight on your prediction. The whole point of appointing a new manager was to try and improve things and at least give him the rest of the transfer window to change the squad.

Change the record Eck. If a post months ago is all you`re going to reply with any time you can`t reply with any constructive or worthwhile then there isn`t really much point trying to spell out the picture to you. What do you keep harping on about are you judging someone about the past or the present or words to that effect.
I`m willing to spell it out one last time for you. We are 9th after just having a good spanking by a team who have been beaten by everyone else this season and hadn`t won since the opening day of the season going into the game. The result on its own was worrying but the performance spoke volumes. We have since the start of the campaign fallen into a habit of losing soft goals. As tidser himself said after the first goal "we crumbled". The players couldn`t even back themselves to overcome a single goal deficit against a team lower than them in the league with 1 win all season in the league. The bottle went and the scoreline at the end of the game reflected how bad we played on the day. We move onto the weekend against a team who dispatched a Hamilton side who similar to raith themselves are trying to get to safety. The confidence they will have after a 3 nil win compared to us who got smashed off the bottom side by the same scoreline will make them look at this game as a golden opportunity to get a result. I hope that isn`t the case and we can turn them over and go on a run that sees us safe come the end of the season although after watching 22 league games I can`t see it unfortunately.
I believe we are all here because we are pars fans at the end of the day. But sometimes you need to take stock of where we are. We have ultimately been stuck with a lackluster squad from the previous management and tidser if he gets us to 8th with the current squad at the end of the season has earned every penny we give him. We should have sacked mcpake way before we did and gave ourselves more time to get points on the board.
c'mon the pars

You having a go at me for harking back to the past is quite ironical, cammy. And it was Hamilton that Raith beat last night, not Morton, by the way, but I`m probably just nit-picking.
Let`s see what transpires.

Assuming this thread is about Josh...he was one of my favourite players at EEP over his time at the club. Was it 3 or 4 seasons? He improved greatly from being a raw, kind of clumsy full-back (kudos to the coaching team and to Stevie C for spotting and signing him), and I am thrilled he`s doing so well at Charlton. Probably capable of playing at Championship level and a future Scotland cap. Just a pity about the lack of a sell-on clause, if that`s true.

Josh was a really good player for us, a great bit of talent identification by Stevie Crawford to bring him in, and he came on leaps and bounds under Crawford`s coaching too.
He`s a fantastic example to the players in our squad, especially those coming to the end of their contracts. I don`t believe many players call it in, but Josh`s attitude and commitment were unquestionable.
Players need to really give 100% in every game they play these days, as if they don`t, that shows in the data. They won`t get a decent contract here, or anywhere if they don`t give their all every time they step on the pitch

Josh was probably one of our quickest players , but his crossing was erratic , but that is where a trained scout can see the full package and crossing can be worked on pace cannot ,along with a good work ethic it can take you a fair way .
