The Ayr keeper needs to change his top,to me it`s clashing with the out field players.

Would really like Ayr to go up this season. Henderson is a good wee player. If Ayr don’t go up, I would suspect he would be away. Great to see Somerset busy.

That Ayr Utd strip is absolutely tremendous! Would have loved that to have been our strip this season.

The Manchester United winning goal, as wee eck, says was very obviously offside. Sadly, having no VAR in these cup games just emphasises a high level of amateurish officiating. Leicester must be very frustrated with that. Having got used to VAR in big games now makes it seem ridiculous that an important game like this could be decided on a blatantly wrong refereeing decision.

If so, that would probably be advantageous to the away team since referees usually lean towards the home team in their decisions ( apart from referees at East End Park of course, although we have had a few advantageous penalties recently). But I would be slightly surprised if there is VAR at our cup games since surely if it is available for one game, it must be available for all and I don`t reckon some of the smaller club venues would be set up for VAR.

An article in the Courier confirms VAR will be used at Pittodrie tomorrow. The players were given a crash course in its operation yesterday. It seems in the Scottish Cup it will be used where the necessary equipment is already installed at grounds. In England it won`t be used anywhere until the 5th round.

It`s used for live TV games at Premiership venues Paralex & wee eck. If the game isn`t televised (Dundee v Airdrie today for example) then it can be used if both clubs agree to it and pay for its use. Otherwise it`s not used. The English system highlighted the flaws last night - a linesman so used to getting bailed out by VAR he failed to notice more than one Man Utd player offside before the winning goal. Rather than improve refereeing, it`s made it worse.

Thanks for that, kp. It did strike me last night that officials maybe have a different mindset when VAR is operating, knowing their decision is not `final`, and it`s difficult to change that when it`s not operating. Last night`s decision wasn`t even close.

So when VAR is not present and an official makes a mistake that VAR would have certainly corrected, it`s still VAR`s fault?
Bizarre logic.

VAR is technology. The fault is with the humans who interpret it and who also err when it`s not available.

The problems is officials are now so reliant on the technology that they miss glaringly obvious things. Bin VAR.

"So when VAR is not present and an official makes a mistake that VAR would have certainly corrected, it`s still VAR`s fault?

No, it`s not bizarre at all. Before VAR came in, the lineman has to be hyper alert at all times, knowing that he or she needs to be ready for a split second decision that might come up. With VAR in play, they can relax. If they miss a glaring offside, VAR will call it back. Or they might delay then give it offside knowing it can be checked and reversed. It totally changes the way games are officiated. The same happened in cricket, where umpires started being a bit too relaxed with their LBW calls, knowing that DRS will fix any clangers. It was really apparent when tests were played in India (where DRS wasn`t in use) where LBW decisions were all over the place. In Tennis, obvious line calls were missed knowing Hawkeye would come on. It`s human nature.

The point is there was no VAR last night so the officials should not have been relaxed and should have been giving their full attention with that knowledge. Can`t blame VAR for a linesman not doing his job.
