Heard a noise out the back this afternoon so I went out to tell them to turn it down a bit. Discovered it was Glasgow Hawks or some other bird of pray playing Edinburgh Academicals. Recognising it was some sort of game, I decided not to complain. The team in the red seemed to score just as I arrived and that was the end of the game. Seemed quite primitive to me. The ball wasn`t round and they didn`t kick it. I wondered what all the noise was about. Anyway it`s no substitute for football and I doubt if it`ll ever take on. According to Buspasspar, it`s a game played by posh boys. Didn`t look too posh to me.

I believe the game is called ruggar or rugby and is mainly played with men who have odd shaped balls.

I went to the Whitburn St Andrews East of Scotland Premier Division game. It was quite entertaining and had a good few Pars connections.
The St Andrews keeper pulled off a couple of great saves early doors as I was in the queue to get a tasty (but relatively tiny) haggis pie. Freddie Rowe and John Tod combined to set up the opener – unfortunately for Whitburn – Freddie played the ball back to John who miskicked it, and the ball ended up with ex-Par Cammy Graham who finished well. Good to see him still playing – I think he had quite a serious illness.
The home side scored a second (it looked suspiciously offside but the linesman wasn’t the most mobile) but the game turned when Greg Shields got himself red carded. I thought St Andrews became more direct once he was out of sight and pulled one back with 5 minutes to go, then John Todd was pushed up front and they won a penalty which Lewis Sawyers fired home emphatically. Tod was switched to the backline again for stoppage time and the visitors got a good point.
I think they’ve taken their time to find their feet having won promotion but are beginning to put a few results together.
£8 entry, which is fairly standard, I think.

I took in the Crossgates game.
It was a bit of a battle on a heavy pitch.
2-0 win for the hosts in game that had a sending off and an absolutely astounding penalty save from the Crossgates GK Matty Rollo who is on loan from East Fife.
The result leaves Crossgates 5 points off a promotion place with a game in hand.
