Waxing lyrical about his time at the coaching courses at Largs -

Mourinho spent time in Scotland during his formative years as a coach as he gained his B Licence and has warm memories of his time on the Ayrshire coast in particular.

"The Largs pubs... a disaster. I was only drinking sparkling water," he said.

"But it was fantastic. From a learning point of view and a human point of view. They were the biggest guys in Scottish football at that time. It was very good on coaching - sometimes badges are just badges, but this was different.

"It was amazing for me. I went there with my university degree - I was still playing, at a low level, but still playing. That coaching course and the methodology level was different. After that so many times when I am asked by young coaches, `where would be a good first step?` I say they should go there."

He said he would consider managing at Celtic or Rangers if the opportunity arose.

"People can say the Scottish league is a league of two teams, but it is a league of passion. Passion in football is everything. To play in empty stadiums and competitions where there is not that fire of the passion does not make any sense.``

I remember going there for a weekends coaching when I was in the Boy`s Brigade. The Scottish coach, John Anderson, who later appeared in the TV programme Gladiators, tried to coach me in tennis. Waste of his time but I was not too bad at the table version.

Talking of BB; one of the funniest sending offs I have seen was in a BB game. Large defender fouls the opposition forward and exclaims β€œoh Jesus Christ” when shown the yellow card, promptly followed by a red for blasphemy.

Supposedly Spurs sent a scout to watch a youngster at Fenerbahce and Jose deliberately left him on the bench for the 90 mins after getting wind of it πŸ˜‚

Also dont see anything coming of the claims from Galatasaray about racism either.

After being at a sportsman`s dinner some years ago with Craig Brown and Dick Campbell starring, there were many stories about Largs, mostly not involving any coaching!

Do love a bit of Jose. Doesn`t play by the rules and outside of his insane passion for the game, I can imagine he`d be great to grab a pint with

I did the C licence a good few years ago, when I was taking school football teams.

What happens there stays there! But

we had terrific sessions with Andy Roxburgh, Craig Brown, with Gordon Smith and Jim McSherry who played for Ayr. Jim MacLean was there for a full day and was also incredible.

Definitely helped my understanding of coaching, although my school team won hee haw!
