same format as the SPFL playoffs and only need to go back a week to see Livi "upsetting" this by winning the 2nd leg away having drawn 1st leg and been 2-0 down on the night in the 2nd.

A study analyzing matches from 2007-2017 found that teams hosting the second leg won the tie around 60-70% of the time in the Round of 16 and Quarterfinals. However, this advantage seemed to diminish in the later stages, with only 20% of teams playing the second leg at home advancing to the final.

Was the study limited to the CL, Parsmad? If it was, that can be explained that the round 16 was seeded, in that group winners were drawn against teams finishing 2nd in another group with the second leg at home. Not valid statistics, therefore, because there is more than one variable involved. The seeded team would usually be stronger and would arguably have gone through anyway. It would be interesting to see if there was a significant difference between the stats of the last 16 and last 8 as it was an all in draw from the quarters onwards.
Interesting that the teams drawn at home first in the semi-finals went on to the final 4 times out of 5. I suppose being at home in the return is only advantageous if you don`t get scudded in the 1st leg. 😁
Not your average Sunday League player.
