If Connor Young kicks on from here … we are not relying on Kane and that takes the brakes off for others like Cooper to do their stuff

Fingers crossed!

I’ve always thought Connor young would kick on if we could create him some decent chances. Sadly last year we lacked the creativity in midfield to get him some chances and he had to live off scraps when he did get minutes. Hopefully we can create a proper pipeline to him this year and get him a double digits goal total in the league.

Hopefully with some creativity he can find his scoring boots he had at Edinburgh.

I didn’t go to the game today, but I am firmly in this camp. I have seen enough of Young at Edinburgh and with us, to see there is a player there. It was a slog playing up top for us last season, but get the ball into good areas and I do think he has it.

Everyone entitled to their opinion .....
My view was that positionally I thought he was good, he seemed to see situations better than some and passes he made looked worse due to other players not reading the situation the same....
What he certainly showed was that he definitely is not a Sunday league player....

He`s young and was a standout in league 1 last year, he`s no more a Sunday league player than you`re an OnlyFans big hitter.

About Keith Bray, who is very welcome here at EEP, I`m pleased we`ve got him.
In 2024-2025 he made 37 appearances for ICT scoring 11 goals and was the club’s top goalscorer.
19 years old now, after a battling season.

Suggesting that he and his teammates didn`t quite gel today, and (not surprisingly this early in the season) may need a little more time to familiarise with each others ways?

With you GG. Sometimes if you have nothing good to say, say nothing at all. What is the point in a comment like that about a young player? Talk about destroying any confidence he has right at the beginning of the season. The lad has only started with us and will take time to get to know the other players. I really hope he does not read that comment.

Let`s cut Kaiser a bit of slack here, Parster. I`m guessing he/she is quite young and guilty of posting a thoughtless comment. Calling someone you`ve probably never met a bellend is a bit ironic in a thread about positivity. 🙄

I thought as a team we looked much more positive and purposeful. Better balance and movement. It`s very early doors yet, and players are just getting up to match fitness and sharpness. Players that have come in will be developed with an eye to the near future or a bit longer term. With a few more to come in to provide competition in key areas, I think we are in a good place.
Personally, I wouldn`t be writing anyone off at this stage. It`s a team game that needs a team effort and squad to compete for the whole season.

We’ve seen it time and time again, some players breeze the step up, others take time, and a few just never quite get there. Bray’s only a kid, still learning his trade, and this is probably the first proper test of a higher level for him. One pre season game isn’t going to define the lad. He is probably leaving his family behind for the first time as well.
The League Cup will be a much better gauge. Proper competitive matches, but still early enough in the season to allow some bedding in. If he shines then brilliant, we`ve maybe got a player on our hands. If he struggles, fair enough, it’s a chance to see where he’s at and what he needs to work on.
Let`s not be too quick to make our minds up. Give the boy a chance to find his feet before we start writing him off.

With due respect, GG I don`t agree with that. What he/she posted is a social media comment that could harm a young person. It`s not just an opinion, it`s an attack on someone doing their job. Anywhere else it`s called `unacceptable behaviour.`
By `thoughtless comment` you mean, he/she wouldn`t have posted it if they`d thought a little longer? There`s been time now for an apology.
We don`t know Kaiser`s mental condition, or age. Or if he/she is capable of more than the shallow thinking displayed in such a crass post.

It`s easy to look at yesterday and say we should have comfortably won. We did. And that`s great that we did. As the old saying goes "you can only beat what`s in front of you". Kelty were a bit questionable at the back (definitely for that first goal!) but they`re a well organised outfit. Well drilled team in the main. We had a pretty young side out there and they rose to the challenge. That third was a peach.

I can`t argue with any of that, oaup. I thought Kaiser might be a slightly immature teenager but red star implies otherwise, so we can reduce some of the slack I cut him. My post was more in response to Parster calling him a bellend.
Having said that, our players should either stay well away from the forum or be prepared for some crass comments regarding their ability. How any fan on here can pass judgement on one of our players after watching them for an hour or so is incomprehensible.

Different spelling, PARrot. The chap you`re thinking of is Keyser Soze. I met him at EEP several years ago, when we responded to a call by the club to shovel snow off the pitch to enable the game to go ahead. We shouldn`t have bothered - we got beat.
